Based on what you describe, passive investing would probably fit you best. Your goal should be to minimize costs. If you fully digest the following books, you would be far and away ahead of most people. You found TRP/MRP two months ago. You showed zero self-control and went Rambo, when the standard course of action is measured, methodical improvements. Did you even comprehend a single thing you read? Others will chime in with various bits of wisdom, but you will likely just ignore it, as you did with the 12 steps of dread, talking about fight club, etc. Do what you want, then.

I'll post what I want. I know your sidebar. I know your posts. I know how dead this place is most of the time. You guys need a shot in the arm. Why? So that we become more like the TRP sub, where 80-90% of the posts are a waste of time, or people looking for validation and ego stroking? Personally, I value quality over quantity.

OYS 2017/08/08 - Week 11 Physical Height: 5'11" // Weight: 198.6 lb 5x5 (strict) lifts: SQ: 230 lb // BP: 180 lb // BRow: 130 lb // OHP: 130 lb // DL: 205 lb I fixed the forward hitch in my squat form, and also hit my first failed lift on the fourth set at 230 lb. I tried to make the lift again (ego), which was a huge mistake, and I tweaked my knee with terrible form. Lesson learned: Kill the ego in all forms. Diet has been off this week and is my number one failure. I called the clinic to sched…

Stay plan is same as go plan ? But you are seriously considering paying off your wife's student loans ? These are not mutually exclusive. The student loan debt was incurred when we were married, so I do not see the big contradiction. It is no different than if we racked up a bunch of credit card debt while married and are trying to pay it off. The stay/go plan obviously doesn't have anything about possible divorce in it. Which is nuts. Perhaps my understanding of the stay/go concept is off base,…

Do you practice Zen meditation? Theory is informative but meditative practice can lead to profound insights. It's the difference between reading about lifting and actually lifting. I agree completely. Zen is centered around meditative practice, and it is part of my morning routine. As for theory versus practice, Bruce Lee said it best: "Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do." A set morning routine is fantastic, stacked habits to start the day off right. I am fin…

OYS 2017/08/01 - Week 10 Physical Age: 30 // Height: 5'11" // Weight: 197.4 lb 5x5 (strict) lifts: SQ: 220 lb // BP: 170 lb // BRow: 125 lb // OHP: 120 lb // DL: 195 lb Form is slightly suffering on squats, as I hitch forward on about half the reps. I likely will have to deload to correct this issue. All other lifts seem fundamentally solid. I am managing IF better now than I was two weeks ago, especially when doing cardio and playing sports. I have not had a recurrence of 'complete body shutdow…

Health / Physical 5x5 (strict) lifts: (H: 5'11", W: 197, SQ: 190, BP: 155, BRow: 120, OHP: 105, DL: 180). Continuing with IF, but I have serious reservations about it working with my schedule. 2-3x/week I play beach volleyball with coworkers around lunch. Twice this past week, my body shutdown while playing, and I have not been willing to push myself as hard on the court. This is physically and mentally counterproductive, and I need to figure out a workaround. Psychological / Spiritual Still wor…

Health / Physical SL5x5 3x/week. Cross-training 4x/week. 5x5 (strict) lifts are: (H: 5'11", W: 197, SQ: 175, BP: 145, BRow: 110, OHP: 100, DL: 175). Started 16/8 IF. I found the implementation and execution of IF to be rather seamless, and I have not noticed any strength difference when lifting while fasting. I have cut out all empty liquid calories, and my water intake is at least a gallon per day. Though diet is still a work in progress, it is getting better each week. My main diet hindrance a…

"I just have no idea how to navigate these married conversation traps that she has of imbalanced responsibility. Logic holds no grounds, and stating that I've only said no a few times merits no satisfaction." Stop DEERing. Stop talking. Stop feeling the need to respond to her every little comment. Bite your tongue, ignore it, and STFU... until WISNIFG feels more natural.

Health / Physical SL5x5 3x/week. Cross-training 4x/week. 5x5 (strict) lifts are: (H: 5'11", W: 198, SQ: 165, BP: 135, BRow: 100, OHP: 90, DL: 165). I haven't failed a weight progression yet; it is only a matter of time before that happens, and I look forward to the failure. Diet is still a work in progress. I slacked over the weekend/holiday, and the physical difference (energy levels, headaches, etc.) I experienced was noticeable. It is hard to believe that I ever let myself eat like that befor…

Health / Physical Doing SL5x5 3x/week. Cross-training 4x/week with pushups, pullups, calf raises, stationary bike/running, and/or sports. Lifts are nowhere near my max, due to the SL recommendation of using ~50% load as the initial benchmark. Current 5x5 (strict) lifts are: (H: 5'11", W: 198, SQ: 145, BP: 120, BRow: 90, OHP: 75, DL: 150). I have adopted a similar SL training philosophy with cross-training, and I will increase the cross-training volume on a weekly basis. Diet has been a consisten…

Mission Constantly strive to become stronger. Health / Physical Lift 3x/week. [B] Cross-train 3x/week. [B] Track caloric intake and macros. [C] Stop eating processed and empty calorie foods. [C] Stop drinking calories. [A] Sleep at least 6 hours per night. [D] Get semi/annual dental, eye, and health exams. [B] Poor planning resulted in me missing separate lifting and cross-training sessions. I realize where my specific failing was, and it will not happen again. Current 5x5 (strict) lifts are: (H…

Mission Constantly strive to become stronger. Weekly Overview Work is continuing to be a huge time drain, and I believe this will continue for at least the next month. I am better managing my internal state, and I am consciously working to bring positive energy back to the home front. An observation is that focusing on bringing home positive energy has resulted in my wife being less neurotic over the past week. My increasing work hours have also required me to delegate more tasks to my wife, whi…

Mission Constantly strive to become stronger. Weekly Overview Work gave me a quick kick to the crotch over the past couple of weeks, and I have had to deal with one emergency after another. Work is getting to the point that I am expecting everything to fail on any given day, and the reality is not far off. This is negatively affecting me throughout the day, and I am bringing this energy home. I may not be able to do much in regards to the issues at work, but I need to be better about leaving the…

I understand the jist of what you are saying. However, I do not understand the implementation. If you assume your action or decision is wrong, why did you do it in the first place? Is it not more logical to assume you are right, and be shown/proven wrong? This is assuming you can be objective about 'facts.'

Agreed, on every point. Rereading my prose is cringeworthy.

Ego. The hardest thing to kill. Surrendering the ego... a tough task for an obstinate son of a gun like me. Unfortunately, lasting progress won't happen without it. I see that now. Multiple people have implied it, and I was too wrapped up in my dysfunctional mental model to fully understand their wisdom. That being said, I have a deep, dark, terrible secret (though not much of a secret to MRP). I am a recovering beta. A recovering beta. It pains me to say it, but the truth hurts sometimes. My ci…

Last week predominantly involved me getting organized and tearing down my existing foundation to make room for a better version of me. Overall, I was successful with last week's goals, minus getting my home life completely cleaned and decluttered. I made good progress on this front, but I failed to account for just how long the endeavor would take. I will continue to hit this hard and it should be completely done in a couple of weeks. That being said, these are the MAP items I am focusing on thi…

Agreed. No RP rambo here; just focused on slow, methodical improvements. I was guilty of the mother of covert contracts before, and I realized this failing. I am past that now and am simply aiming to be the best version of me.

Greetings. I am new to MRP, but not to the general concepts of RP. Awhile back, I started to unfuck my life over at the MMSL forum, and I made some improvements: reading, lifting, etc. However, the week to week progress that I was accomplishing was exceeding slow and unstructured. The excuses for this vary and predominantly revolve around me not seeing/hitting the eject button from that forum fast enough. Or... more aptly... me being a lazy fuck who lacked the critical introspection to see that …
