I agree 100%. I only pay for goods and services from people I would marry

And not a single feminist has a problem with the egregious internalized sexism. That concern is reserved for such inhumanity as women out-lipsticking each other
/r/MensRights10/03/24 07:42 PM

Oh great, so biology and lifestyle choices are insufficient reason to even label outcome disparities as sexism, much less institute policies to bring about gender equity/parity. Goodbye to all women’s programs ever enacted!

My car doesn’t go 60 mph. The chassis is an inert piece of machinery that would sit quietly on the asphalt. So the engineers built another piece of hardware that would generate power and transfer it to the wheels. So the car itself doesn’t move, because it’s only moving due to the engine and transmission. Two separate things bro

Ask them whether women killing other women in astronomical numbers would be met with the same apathetic dismissiveness or a society-wide campaign against such nightmarish degrees of internalized misogyny.

Lol, allow me to translate: “We’re here to dismantle sexism and gender inequality which hurts everyone. Because it’s a complete and shameless reversal of the “principles” of fake gender equalists. When women harm themselves it’s ‘internalized misogyny’; feminists know implicitly that framing the same as ‘toxic femininity’ is at best unproductive and at worst plainly misogynist. They just conveniently forget this when it comes time to frame male self-harm.
/r/MensRights11/11/23 09:38 PM

Kudos for keeping the mask off. I wish more feminists were as honest as you about considering literal institutional sexism to be synonymous with teaching about women’s rights

What’s hilarious is that they’re reinforcing the very foundation of patriarchy insofar as it describes a world where men financially dominate. No one ever accused feminists of being self-aware

Such a drastic tendency toward self-destruction would be termed tragic internalized misogyny, and in fact is, though it references far less self-destructive behaviors than men’s insane suicidality, for instance. The flagrant double standard in the way issues negatively affecting men vs. women are conceptualized and discussed is what MRAs take umbrage with.
/r/MensRights15/06/23 01:36 AM

As it should. Such language would be considered severely problematic were it directed toward women, which is why it doesn’t happen. Men’s well-being is men’s responsibility, and women’s well being is men’s responsibility.
/r/MensRights14/06/23 09:44 PM

Unlikely IMO, unless something happens to decrease the general degree of risk-aversion in women (relative to men). On top of that, there isn’t an entire civilization-wide fetish of minimizing and even laughing at acts of brutal violence against men propagated through virtually every form of media.

Yes, and that’s why if the female foreskin is removed with the intent to lower risk of bacteria, warts, and fecal material (which don’t exist only in males), you support it as well. The fact that the male and female foreskin contains tens of thousands of nerve endings responsible for maximizing pleasure is irrelevant when the intent is hygiene.

Your first mistake was assuming feminists generally operate on principle. If a tactic is useful to a feminist, they will use it, no matter how little it comports with their stated beliefs, values, or goals. Shaming someone by attacking their sexuality is relatively useful as a silencing mechanism, so they do it. It doesn’t matter to them that they claim to be wholly opposed to that precise behavior.

This encapsulates the solipsistic, near-sighted way in which feminism views gender “equity” as opposed to equality before the law. There are in infinite number of facts one can cite in order to justify any number of “equitable” policies. For example it would be perfectly in line with gender equity to automatically give men a food stipend on the basis that they biologically require more calories/nutrition merely in order to survive. But feminists will never campaign for such a thing, because in a…

Not in any way that remotely resembles the actual sympathy they grant women, but platitudes such as ‘toxic masculinity hurts men’ or ‘patriarchy harms men too’ are done as lip service while functioning practically as simply another way to slander men as a class as being problematic/oppressive/etc.
/r/MensRights11/05/22 08:51 PM
71

That’s not exactly true; feminists are glad to problematize intra-male violence when they can do so within a framework of ‘toxic masculinity’ rather than ‘internalized misandry’ (which is 100% of the time). Feigned sympathy for men must always be subsumed by a simultaneous victim-blaming of men, maleness, or masculinity.
/r/MensRights11/05/22 05:16 PM
20

What’s always amused me about the use of ‘incel’ as a rhetorical strategy is that is reduces women’s sexuality to a measuring stick that determines the greatness of a man’s ideas/opinions/etc. It outlines ideas about gender that even the worst misogynist couldn’t think of, and it’s used by feminists.

They play a part, along with an infinitude of other factors such as men being naturally and sexually selected (by women) to be lower in risk-aversion and higher in physical aggression, discrimination against men in sentencing and incarceration leading to recidivism, etc. What it’s not caused by is a mystical evil force of masculinity that infects anyone with a penis, anymore than a magical feminine force causes women to murder their own toddlers.

“Men breaking their own legs to appeal to women’s sexual tastes is toxic masculinity!”
/r/AntiFeminists01/05/22 11:10 PM
14

It’s the same reason why masculine roles can lead to injury, illness, maiming, death, and suicide and none of it’s called toxic masculinity as long as it helps women at the same time. Feminism is strictly about maximizing benefits to women, no matter what that means for anyone else.
/r/MensRights29/04/22 07:14 PM

On outer-edge vanity issues such as as promiscuity which have no meaningful policy impact I’d agree that there is heterogeneity. What I mean to say is that there are no visible sects of feminism which seek to limit the reproductive rights of women, for example. Along any axis which has real policy implications for women’s ability to navigate society, there is virtual unanimity across the feminist movement.
/r/MensRights28/04/22 01:17 AM

It’s Interesting how feminism is 100% a homogeneous monolith concerning any issue even slightly affecting women, but indifference or even rabid support for policies against men (which would be considered grievous human rights offenses were they implemented against women) is casually hand-waved away as “well feminism is a diverse movement”

Their outrage at the term ‘toxic femininity’ is as clear an admission as you can get about the bad faith of the term ‘toxic masculinity’. They realize that it’s nothing more than a shaming tactic used to collectively demonize an entire gender. They understand this unambiguously when the usage is reversed - hence the outrage.
/r/AntiFeminists25/04/22 02:41 AM

Is it that difficult for you to replace “masculinity” with “femininity”? I’ll do it for you. Toxic femininity is a term used to refer to harmful expressions of femininity or feminine gender norms.

I interpret OP to be speaking of the term “incel” in the context of its use as a slur rather than as a descriptor for the incel community - especially because it was functionally compared to “slut” as a misogynistic slur.
/r/MensRights17/04/22 02:34 AM
10

Plenty of women call themselves sluts/whores. That doesn’t justify calling women sluts as a form of insult or argument; neither is using “incel” as a point of attack justified. Did you read the OP?

You figure by looking at the scientific literature on antisocial behaviors in females vs. males, a field with decades of data. To assume that the only forms of aggressive or antisocial behavior which have a gender disparity are ones in which men are over represented is laughable and patently false.
/r/MensRights16/04/22 06:27 PM

What would be some examples of toxic femininity and healthy femininity? If this framework is a value-neutral, good faith method for analyzing expressions of masculinity, why aren’t expressions of femininity also conceptualized within such a pathologizing, toxic/healthy binary by these same sociologists?

Even the fact that men are less likely to take care of themselves - physically or mentally - would not rule out sexism under a consistent gender studies analysis; after all, the analogue in women is studied extensively as internalized misogyny. The difference is that such lines of reasoning never extend beyond the point where they would produce sympathies for men (internalized misandry) without simultaneously maligning them (toxic masculinity).

Buzzwords/social shaming are easier tactics than coherent and effective arguments. It requires less effort to call someone an “involuntary celibate” than to defend your position, and ironically, the extent to which that particular strategy works is fully founded upon the “patriarchal” expectation that a man feel uniquely shameful if he lacks sexual value in the eyes of women as a collective. It’s an especially bizarre tactic when employed by feminists because it reduces and debases women’s sexua…

/r/MensRights28/08/20 11:01 PM

‘Internalized misandry’ lacks utility because it risks inspiring genuine empathy for the oppressor class that isn’t immediately blunted by victim-blaming. This is why the term toxic masculinity is preferred.

Oh they’re definitely (at least in part) biologically based and can be fulfilling to men. My main point was that men being forced into these roles to the point that it kills them (conscription, for example) is, by feminists’ own definitions, toxic masculinity, despite the double standard employed by them in treating it differently than, say, women being pressured into housewifery against their will.
/r/MensRights24/08/20 06:58 PM
21

Don’t spend too much energy rationalizing that phrase - it’s not much more than a shaming technique used to pathologize male identity and dehumanize men; in practical use it refers to anything a man does which doesn’t immediately benefit women. This is why protector/provider/workhorse/meatshield roles are never labeled ‘toxic masculinity’, despite very often being poisonous to men’s health and happiness. Just keep being the best man you can be; that’s all you can ask of yourself.
/r/MensRights24/08/20 11:19 AM

This dehumanist collectivism is the heart of it. Flesh and blood individuals become nothing more than soulless fronts/representations for their assigned collective. It’s the most potent prescription for mass-scale scapegoating and victim blaming.

This is the fallacy in “No true feminist”. Radical misandrists make up a large swath of the most influential authors, writers, activists, and academics upon whose writings the philosophy and movement are based. Men were never forced to exaggerate their penis size, and neither were women literally chained to the stovetop either. On the contrary, today women must be incentived and given legal preferential hiring to convince them to go into the most desirable fields, and even then they choose overwhelmingly to trade their career for the bearing and raising of children. It’s not distinct: choose to exaggerate their penis size = choose to have children instead of a career
/r/PussyPassDenied03/03/20 02:52 PM

And that entire argument can be made in the reverse direction. “It’s a very commonly observable phenomenon where women choose to give up a career in order to have and raise children, so the joke picked out that observation in women. But when it comes to the penis joke, just because men were made to be anxious about the socio-sexual judgement of women, just to laugh at their insecurity is a cheap joke.” Both jokes are sexist, and to be against one but not the other reveals a biased perspective.
