I agree, there are things that are (on average) easier about being both genders, but that comeback would be juicy because sometimes you have to sink to their level and fight in the mud.

Nope. Many women just want men to experience their emotions in a feminine way. They want men to cry about the things they care about and the beliefs they hold. When men show emotion in a way regarding an issue that challenges even one of their beliefs, it's automatically invalidated and labeled as male fragility. You don't get to claim to "encourage" male emotional expression and then shame them when they don't express themselves the way you want.

You seemed to be pretty obsessed with how other men dress; you should explore that. Maybe people are down-voting you because you're calling others weak while demonstrating obvious weakness and insecurity so it's kind of cringe.

Very well put, better than I could. We can discuss men's issues in plenty of scenarios that do exist. We don't need to rewrite history and fabricate things to make ourselves seem like victims in every scenario.

I'm very open to this, but it's very difficult for me to challenge what I've been told from first-hand accounts my whole life. But I'll read up on this. Thanks very much.

Dirty and strenuous work isn't some oppression somebody else has built for us though, it's a choice that we make. Yes, "somebody has to do it", but the risky and body destroying jobs are (at least in the western world) are rewarded handsomely considering how low-skill the labour is. I'm not saying women didn't have a say in developing our society, I don't believe in patriarchy theory, but I certainly believe (and have heard first hand) that there were "boys club" industries where women weren't t…

Very good advice. My mom and I have had conversations like this before and we've always pulled through, and she's never tried to turn anyone against me. I don't want to be the black sheep of my family but I also don't want to compromise my valid convictions for the sake of keeping the peace.

> Women had the option not to work at all then. Housekeeping was a full time job before modern conveniences, women had no option not to *work*. Women also faced pregnancy risks and the exclusive duty of raising children which men frequently abstained from. > What did women have to face then? Harassment? Well so did the men. You can't seriously believe the amount of spousal abuse and sexual harassment (much more of which went unreported) against men in those days was even comparable to that of …

I agree the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction, but being a woman in the workplace definitely sucked more than being a man in the workplace in the 1960s, and that's the world she grew up in. HR sexual harassment prevention barely existed, women could be fired or denied promotion on the basis of their gender, etc. I'm not trying to defend the feminist mantra, I'm just giving my aunt some credit here. She saw some shit. I'm sure she also chose to ignore the suffering of men via war …

I agree, it just really sucks. People like us have been so demonized by feminists that even a slightly contrary opinion to their own sends sirens off in their head. Bigot, sexist, misogynist, toxic, alt-right, racist, hatemonger. I can feel all these labels being applied to me when I mildly suggest that false allegations should be taken seriously, and it's a huge bummer. Ideological brainwashing is honestly so depressing when it affects your day-to-day relationships.
/r/MensRights01/10/18 07:18 PM

I'm sure not everything was internally consistent, but there were plenty of actual issues; workplace discrimination, segregated employment, access to birth control etc. What I'm saying is that as a woman growing up in the 60s I'm sure she went through some shit worthy of being mad about, and I'm sympathetic to that. But her current attitude is making it really difficult to discuss these issues with her.
/r/MensRights01/10/18 06:17 PM

Maybe you're correct, but I'd like to think she's not gaslighting me deliberately. She lived through second-wave feminism where many of the women shared legitimate grievances with unfair societal treatment and is used to being in the right during every gender discussion. She might legitimately be brainwashed into believing that any questioning of a woman's integrity during a rape case is akin to misogyny, which is why she resorted to anecdotes in the face of data. I guess I have to play her game…

I really hope there's another way. She's my favourite aunt and she's been really close and emotionally available throughout my young life. I also don't agree with her use of personal experience when discussing data (since I bit my tongue on my own personal experience) but I also don't blame her since the entire feminist narrative is so emotionally charged and story-driven. I just wish I could help her see I'm not being malicious and I'm just looking out for victims of false allegations (and, of …

here's another study from georgetown That study proves the opposite of what you're claiming. Even in Figure 2 you see no strong correlation with BA fields and unemployment (even in recent grads which is, admittedly, a weak point on the employment scale for BAs) unemployment and employment rates are not inverses. I know that, and never claimed they were, but you've yet to prove your claim of the "5% employment rate for BAs" with any substantial evidence. Your final paragraph is something well und…

Still waiting for you to prove that BAs have a 5% employment rate and STEMs have near 100% lmao. Literally nowhere does the data prove that. And I've already provided stats that actively disprove that statement.

you're not accounting for the fact that 95% of the kids who get a poli sci degree get NO job requiring a poli sci degree I'm truly enjoying these stats you're pulling out of your ass with no source. By this logic, the average poli sci major at one of the top 15 universities in the country makes 20k a year; which is demonstrably untrue. That's below the poverty line. The ROI for a plumbing certification isn't 1 million dollars if you make 50k a year; that's not how it works. you narrowed down to poli sci Yes, poli sci is a BA. If you want to cur…

Even the lowest rank on this list shows a 500k 20 year ROI on a 100k degree. Even if I'm allowing ROI for education to be a valid measurement (it's not) that's still not a negative investment. You clearly struggle with reading comprehension since you've ignored my argument that it's economically infeasible to reduce entire educational ventures to the same rules as easily quantifiable ROI analysis. You've also failed to link any specific data that supposedly proves your point. I don't blame you though, proper debate and analysis are pillars of a proper education; which you seem to lack.

americans owe over a trillion dollars in student debt. The same is true with credit card debt. It's not just BA students that make bad financial decisions. Just like a credit card, a BA is useful in the hands of the right person, but most people use it improperly. this is because the federal gov now backs student loan My university was public too and my tuition was low, loan interest rates were 0, and I never paid more than $150 for a textbook. i don't have to know how much YOU make. Yup. I agree that getting a degree in Feminist Dance Therapy and expecting to work in your field with a high salary is dumb, but I'm pretty sure most people understand that's not reality. Dude, I've discovered this so much in the past few years. Considerate and costly things that I do are almost immediately forgotten. Girls that are emotionally driven care more about what's right in front of them than the myriad of past sacrifices that have built their lifestyle up to that point. Guys totally do this too, we're stimulated more by things directly in front of you. But I wish more men enjoyed gratitude for how much they provide in a relationship.

This. Justin Bieber was 18 here, McCarthy was 40, which makes it creepier. Taylor Swift sued a radio DJ for groping her butt in a photo (sexual assault charges), and he was fired and blacklisted in the industry. I'm not saying that wasn't justified, but if you think this video of Bieber isn't just as bad or worse, you're delusional.

"We're allowed to say we hate men because men exclusively created a structure that we have decided benefits men and we dismiss all criticism to the contrary" That's all I read when I see this trash. Some called her “bitch”, “slut”, “harpy”; some were explicit threats of violence and rape. First of all, citation needed. Second of all, that name-calling is pretty tame for the internet. Yeah, I thought people might recognize that. For the sake of the video, I'm responding to the bastardized version of "Toxic Masculinity", because that's all I ever see anymore. Whenever there is a school shooting, people blame Toxic Masculinity (i.e. Men existing and feeling anger/frustration) on the actions of a clearly mentally ill psychopath, as if their actions would have been different if they existed in a matriarchal society. There were 3 reports on it on CBC radio and I heard one yesterday while driving. People found these men's Facebooks then published their addresses and emailed their place of work and that's how they found out. I don't know if I have the link to the actual special but they interviewed somebody that knew how the Hydro One employee was doxxed, if you want to listen through the reports be my guest. I'm not sure how many were uploaded though. Here's one: http://www.cbc.ca/radio/thecurrent/the-current…

Yes, but people tracked down their personal information and made their place of work public. They didn't sign a release and didn't know that the report was even live. People didn't accept the excuse "Well Zoe Quinn posted her face and info on public social media so obviously people are going to post her address!" So I'm not going to accept this as an excuse.

The guy in my picture didn't say it, it was another guy. Check the video. I get that interrupting an interview is unprofessional, but people yell things on camera, or moon the camera, etc. All the time. This is only special because a female reporter took it as a personal attack, then people that watched this doxxed these men and messaged their place of work demanding they lose their jobs. Complete overreaction.

There weren't really any important points made here, and the points were all based on assumptions validated only by a pseudo-intellectual gender studies glossary. Samus Aran's gender was only "shocking" at first because far fewer women played video games back then, so a female protagonist was a bit rare, but this reveal did not make the metroid series less popular. But even if you assume that feminists are more likely to be emotional, wouldn't insulting them have the opposite desired effect? You want them to watch your video and frame your argument in a way that "feels right" for them. How will insulting them accomplish this?
/r/MensRights02/09/14 09:43 PM
2

What's wrong with abstaining from ad-hominem attacks to validate your arguments? Insulting your opponent, calling them "stupid" or "delusional" doesn't support your position, it can often put people off; especially feminists who don't engage in dialogue with people they perceive as rude.

Thank you very much! I'm still very new to this and fully open to criticism, because if I'm overlooking something in a video I don't want to keep repeating a flawed argument in future videos. Thanks for the kind words.

It frustrates the hell out of me too. I find some relief in the fact that 99 percent of the people complaining about this don't even play or enjoy these games, so their opinion is invalid in most cases. You wouldn't read a book review by somebody that hasn't read the book, so why would you watch a game critique by somebody that doesn't play the game, and when she does she cherry picks to support her bias?

Then why are we ignoring the context of this story to say that the woman wasn't raped, while postulating that the men could have been raped based purely on speculation? Oh you know, because she gave this little thing called consent to people that were within her age group (excluding the 21 year old, who may be charged with statutory if there is proof). You are either sober enough to consent, or you aren't. And that line has not yet been drawn properly in legal terms and is near impossible to pro…

I agree that these are all disgusting, but I think that most feminists might refute by saying that "many of these cases don't feature feminists, and aren't associated with the feminist movement."

Fair enough, I guess I don't have enough insight into the issue, but I agree.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that this is racist, but it is extremely peculiar that they chose to have only these two races in the dramatization (that said there was a black and asian girl at the camp, and a white man sitting next to the black guy harassing her). Although my instinct is to get defensive, this is something that women definitely face more than men. I've seen it happen to girls; rowdy guys telling them to smile or asking them "ay girl, what you so sad about?" I'm fine with wom…

Don't the romeo and juliet laws allow for like 4 or 5 years of leeway? This way if a 15 year old has sex with a 16 year old, that 16 year old isn't arrested. That said, only the 21 year old did anything illegal. Perhaps he should be punished if there is proof that he penetrated her.
/r/MensRights07/08/14 10:08 PM
1

No, we're just holding them to the same standard as the girl. I very much doubt that the boys were totally sober at a high school party, and the extent of their drunkenness is kind of grasping at straws. We're not going to start uploading the info of breathalyzer tests to police stations before people have sex just because we can't figure out consent technicalities.
/r/MensRights07/08/14 10:05 PM
1

Wasn't just ONE not? Also I didn't really get a clear reading as to whether the 21 year old penetrated her or not. Even so, she consented to group sex so there is a lot of grey area.
/r/MensRights07/08/14 10:04 PM

Just in case you want to skip to the most infuriating part. Apparently drunk men can give consent, but not drunk women: nothing new.

No, saying that this behavior is caused by race is racist.
/r/MensRights29/07/14 05:19 PM

These things are a direct result of poverty and discrimination. You have some pretty shitty beliefs and I don't think this type of racism is tolerated here.
/r/MensRights29/07/14 04:30 PM

This is pretty racist man. I mean, I guess you could blame them for not assimilating and forming their own subcultures if they willingly immigrated here but they didn't exactly have a say in the matter. You know, slavery and everything.

I'm choosing not to believe this without evidence.
/r/MensRights29/07/14 05:55 AM

Well I don't know, I find myself agreeing with some of the core values of feminism that I've heard from my self-proclaimed feminist friends. Does that mean I most likely agree with radical feminism? I think that's a slippery slope.
/r/MensRights29/07/14 05:52 AM

I value the input of most people, but that doesn't mean that every person has the power to change my view. Masculinity, in my opinion, isn't about boldly ignoring the thoughts or feelings of those with different beliefs than you. It's about considering them and being open to anything that seems truthful or important.

I have known women who have been STALKED in games That's likely because they've made their identity clear. A male friend of mine who is a high elo in League of Legends is constantly harassed and added regularly because his Team name is in his username. Just as a girl who makes her gender or sexual preferences obvious in her username is likely going to be harassed by immature 14 year olds. As a person with a stutter, I am mocked constantly in game chat. Get over it, people aren't nice when they'r…

Unfortunately we have to spend a lot of our time in this movement defending the fact that some vices and virtues are not gender specific: abuse, violence, rape. I've noticed that we're willing to accept that there are uniquely female issues, but the notion that there are uniquely male issues is just met with scrutiny and shaming by others.
/r/MensRights10/07/14 08:55 PM

This depresses me so much and speaks volumes about the trials of male sexual assault victims.
/r/MensRights07/07/14 01:33 AM

I used to think that too, but man, dating girls that put effort in is exhausting. It takes them an hour to shower and dry their thick hair so that it doesn't end up frizzy, an hour to straighten or curl their hair and do their makeup. Then about another half hour to pick an outfit and jewelry that matches / looks good. Combine this with the amount of money it costs to look this good, and you kind of get sick of it.
/r/TRPOffTopic06/06/14 08:22 PM

I really should have. Even though Canada is taking some pretty big steps forward for male equality, we allow a disgraceful amount of violence against free speech.

The 50/50 comment just makes things even more confusing right off the start as it re-enforces the original fallacy of this being "all violence." How could that still be confused as "all violence" right after I said "Most domestic abuse is between couples." :P

I don't want to bash my own school. But it's in Ontario and it's not UofT. I don't know what it is with this province that we don't crack down on these protesters, especially when they become verbally or physically violent.

"The best ways for you to help are to use your privilege to amplify women’s voices, and stand up to sexism when you see it happening." Okay, I'll get right to rallying against sexism on my college campus (since I'm bursting with privilege) where men are the vast minority and women recently spat on people as they walked into an equality seminar.

One of my female friends had her account suspended because she was reported for criticizing the #yesallwomen hashtag saying something along the lines of "you have no right to speak for me. I am not a victim and I don't live in fear". It's so ironic when they claim MRAs are silencing them when they pretty much have a monopoly on free speech in this corner of the internet.

There have been multiple studies to prove this. Unfortunately we can't pretend like it isn't the truth anymore; men are often easily distracted by attractive women. However, this doesn't make us sharks, rapists, or misogynists.

I had a bit of an argument with the top comment. Incoming wall of text! Here's what she said: Yes, it is so much worse to have someone cross the street to avoid you because it's been drilled into their brains from birth not to trust strangers on the street at night lest they be blamed for their own rape than to be that person who has to constantly live in fear and be unable to move freely throughout the world. Let's not do this guys. I think we all know that most feminists don't openly "hate men". I think we delegitimize the movement a bit when we claim that too.

Without violence we wouldn't have a civilised society. I have no qualms about hitting anyone when they deserve it. Oh wow, so brave. Have you ever heard the phrase "pick on somebody your own size?" If you're beating somebody weaker and less able-bodied than you, then you're a pussy. Like actually, the definition of a pussy. If you can't walk away from a fight and be the better man then you're a child who can't control his emotions without having temper tantrums and you need a time out. If you be…
