1	Opinions about Ethics I see what you're saying and I've mulled over the whole "No true altruism" argument. But in this hypothetical scenario the thing that the soldier values is others over himself. I get that the soldier probably derives some sense of gratification thinking about his fellow soldiers and the value he places on them as a collective group but in the moment of action there is no gratifaction until after the action is complete. 1	Opinions about Ethics A soldier and his platoon are dug into fox holes. A grenade is dropped in and one soldier immediately jumps on it to save the other soldiers and is killed.
