I'm losing my life (36)I am sorry you are having such an awful time. Move forward with your plan and start your new life. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/06/21 01:13 PM
Free first consultation?Lawyers are like most things. You get what you pay for. Most of the better lawyers don't want to tie up a lot of time doing free consultations. I did find that many do a reduced rate consultation or are willing to give more than an hour for the cost of just one. I found my lawyer through an Employee Assistance Program. The first consultation was free and I get 35% off her hourly, which comes out to about $180 an hour. This seemed like a pretty decent rate to naïve me, for a divorce that was goin… | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/06/21 12:21 PM
It's like rain after a droughtNo it's not just you. My wife was the same way. We were intimate the day before she admitted she didn't love me any more. I was also confused as hell. I think it was just her way of trying to make sure things could keep moving forward if she decided she didn't actually want to pursue her affair. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/06/21 12:15 PM
Need some Advice/ SupportIt took me six days to realize it, and that was only an emotional affair at the time. She has since made it a physical one, but I filed as quickly as I could. Counting down the days now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/05/21 08:24 PM
Is vasectomy a smart choice? They are in theory if you really needed to fix it, but I don't think the reversal is guaranteed and can take multiple attempts. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/05/21 12:00 PM
Is vasectomy a smart choice?I had one several years ago after our second child. I am looking forward to that bit of simplicity it will add to the dating process. I also chuckle know 45 year old wife might need to go back on birth control to prevent any accidents with her new boyfriend. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/05/21 11:59 AM
Did solo marriage counseling help any of you guys? Is it worth it?Ahhh okay that makes sense. Thanks for sharing. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/05/21 07:59 PM
Did solo marriage counseling help any of you guys? Is it worth it?I have done all mine over zoom. I've never done in person therapy, but I can't imagine it would be that much better honestly. Hiding it may be very difficult depending on your circumstances, but you will have to figure that out. If you go in person you might be able to pay cash at least. The divorce attorney will be wayyyy more important to your goal of showing up one day ready for the divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/05/21 05:02 PM
Did solo marriage counseling help any of you guys? Is it worth it?I have been seeing an LMFT (focuses on marriage/family counseling in US) solo for a few weeks now. It has been helpful to me to have someone to open up to, and I am more focused on coping with the change and coming out of this mentally healthy. My therapist only gets my perspective though, so she couldn't really advise on what I need to work on from my wife's perspective. I think you would need a therapist seeing both of you separately, or occasionally together to get that kind of outcome. My wi… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/05/21 04:59 PM
Tax claiming questionAnecdotally what I have seen is that whoever files first wins in the view of the IRS, so either you need to have an agreement that both stick to, or you need to be urgent in your tax filing. Obligatory IANAL, just what I have seen here and there on forums like this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/05/21 04:56 PM

Did solo marriage counseling help any of you guys? Is it worth it?Therapist told me that we should get divorced or I should have an affair. She gave me some great advice. Seriously, that is some interesting advice from a Therapist. I'm very curious on the background there. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/05/21 04:44 PM
Dating post divorce and commitment issuesA vasectomy is a great investment if you are certain you don't want more kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/05/21 04:27 PM

I feel like a douche bagYou made some mistakes. She made just as many. This realization has been huge for me, and it will be for you as well. I don't know your situation, but I can share some of mine. She realized things were bad for us much sooner than I did (months) and she chose to take action by seeking out another man instead of confronting it. That was her immediate reaction to the situation. My immediate reaction was to try to be a better person for her and to work on the things I could for our marriage. | 1 | How do you guys deal with the bitterness?Wow man, that is a heck of a story, thanks for sharing. It's hard for me to imagine that much of life revolving around my STBX in one way or another. I agree with the commenter. It sounds like you found a great new wife, and you and she both have been really good people helping take care of your ex. It's good to know things can be amicable in the long run. My STBX's boyfriend isn't a hippie that I am aware of, but I have no idea how well I will ever be able to tolerate him. I have never met him,… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/05/21 02:55 PM
Good days/Bad daysI can relate to nearly all of what you are saying man. She ambushed me with it a little over a month ago. I feel like I am just starting to get through some days without crying. Some days I think I can't wait to start dating, and then others I am terrified. Either way it's going to be a few months before it's even a possibility. The big struggle for me is that she is spending hours every day talking/texting with her boyfriend. Unfortunately I am not in a situation where it makes sense to move ou… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/05/21 03:44 AM
How do you guys deal with the bitterness?Next door neighbors? Literally? This has me curious. How in the world did that happen? It's been a couple of weeks since I filed for divorce and I am planning to get a house in the same neighborhood to make it easier with the kids, but next door sounds crazy. I assume it wasn't always that way. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/05/21 02:52 AM
How do you guys deal with the bitterness?First time I have seen that one. Thanks for sharing. This has always been my pick me up when I need a laugh, and it still works even in this horrible time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-Wd-Q3F8KM | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/05/21 02:47 AM
