[US] Wife completely lied during her deposition and GAL, already briefed on the truth, was there to see it.GAL is guardian ad litem OP is order of protection | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/06/22 01:28 AM
wife took the kids and left, nothing the police can do its a civic matter, she contacted child aid services. Other than lawyering up, Do I call CAS? anyone been in this situation what my next move?File for custody and ask for an emergency injunction to return the kids until trial. The lawyer will know how to do all this, as this sort of thing is common. You need to move quickly, at 6 months the kids establish residency in whatever place she’s in now, but before then, residency is your home. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/03/22 04:25 PM
Making 50/50 Custody WorkUnless his ex is wealthy on her own, she’s going to also have to work. It’s not possible to be a single SAHM. So the kids will be in after school care anyway. All he’d be doing by shifting the time to his wife Is putting extra burdens on someone who is just returning to the workforce and isn’t going to have the bargaining power he does. I think 5/5/2/2 with after school care every day of the week will be better than EOW with after school care every day of the week. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 02:30 PM
Making 50/50 Custody WorkI work from home, so I can take an hour here or there to pick up my kids at the bus stop and etc. however, most schools have after school programs that will keep the kids until 6 pm so parents can pick up after work. If your ex goes back to work (and she will almost certainly have to) the two of you could share the cost because it will also let her work a more normal day. Also, take a look at a 5/5/2/2 plan instead of 7/7. That will mean that you, for example, get Monday/Tuesday, she gets Wednes… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 02:17 PM
GAL AdviceMy experience was a very different one. the GAL was a third party that had no prior interactions with us or with our attorneys. He did a super-thorough job including meeting with all the kids teachers, principals, doctors, etc. He met with my ex and I each twice one on one, each of the kids for about an hour each, and then spent an hour at both of our homes observing us with the kids. The whole thing cost each of us $6K, so $12K total. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/02/22 06:56 PM
GAL AdviceMy experience with a GAL is a neutral third party to fight against crazy entitled mothers. I guess it highly depends on who you get. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/02/22 10:34 PM
GAL AdviceHad a GAL come in to a situation where I had been given 35% custody and my ex had 65%. I wanted 50/50 and the ex wanted me down to supervised 2 days a month. The GAL recommendation was exactly what I asked for - 50/50 on a 5/5/2/2 plan. My ex is furious and taking it to court and my lawyer told me to expect it to be hilarious when the judge throws the book at her. Highly recommend getting a good GAL involved instead of negotiating with a narcissist. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/02/22 10:33 PM
