Remindme! Every 30 Days "Update State of Reflections on Anger"

Sources of My Anger for Reflection Context I am stuck in Anger. Anger in itself isn't bad. However, uncontrolled anger, as I currently manifest it in my resentment-fueled outbursts, undermines my purpose, my frame, and makes me unattractive. Action Plan I will overcome this anger, in part, by undertaking a series of reflective writing activities (using a variety of psycho-therapeutic writing techniques, such as Pennebakers Expressive Writing Method, McAdams Autobiographical writing, etc). I will…

Understood. what’s the source of it? Be specific. I will reflect and post this week. don’t try to fix how anyone else feels about it. Got it. Another NNMNG mentality rationalizing through the side door. Will focus on myself, and they will follow, or they won't, and either way doesn't matter.

Will do. Will report back next week on outcomes. I pushed myself to squat 315 yesterday. Got a solid two reps in, a third with weaker form, and collapsed on the fourth (because I mentally gave in, thinking 'I shouldn't be able to do this' bullshit). Even though that's the first time I failed a set in the two months, I rose out of it with that feeling like I had conquered life in that moment.

I thought about this alot over last couple days. Thanks for the insight. I realized that my changes have been creating a lot of disruption for LTR, and that I've been failing to lead properly. I've reflected on this in my OYS prepared for tomorrow. I've got anger still. And part of my anger is stemming from me having made significant changes (such as fat loss, muscle gain), and LTR has not, and so I was seeing my old self in her. It clicked today that it will take time for her to change, or she …

Thanks for the reminder re 'resetting'. I have read hundreds of guys talk about 'resetting' daily, yet I always thought that I didn't need it (...special snowflake bullshit). I employed 'resetting' this past weekend. I recognized I was getting irritated (recognized it just when it was a nascent thought, before I started showing or acting out), and decided to leave the house for a walk. Refreshed the mind and body. Rest of day went great, I maintained frame, and LTR and kids none the wiser. I wil…

*** OYS Reflections on Chapter 14: Don't Get Lost in Tasks and Duties \*\** The 'do mode' is one of men's biggest strengths and weaknesses. In my 20s, the 'do mode' got me the career, the house, and the girl. I hit my career goal by late 20s, about 10 years ahead of expectations. I was relentless and did not compromise in accomplishing that goal. During that time, I also got the house, the girl, and then started my family. Up until my early 30s, I had a clear vision and purpose, and attained i…

I am committed. That being said, I'm working on the other DoD priorities right now as part of my OYS. Several years worth of career planning and work are (expected) to come to fruition in the spring, so I'm deferring a deep dive examination into my career until June at which time it will be much more value-added. I will be back to re-examine career in June.

“Red-Lining" Never heard the term, but point understood. I'm certainly feeling drained, and my lack of libido and dwindling motivation are reflective. My uncontrolled anger is reflective of frame problem, and is also certainly unattractive, so need to figure out how to ensure no further reoccurence. In reflection over the past two months, my relationship with my LTR has certainly been more volatile than in the past. I beleive I'm managing the ups and downs relatively well (and frankly, provides …

Shrub powder didn’t cause your outburst. Even if it’s effective, which seems questionable, it’s not going to give your roid rage after your first dose. Good point. I need to keep my focus on self-examining my mental models to resolve the anger. The other stuff (work, family stress, supplementation, etc) are merely peripheral, and just boost the anger when it emerges. Ultimately, those things don't cause the anger. I’m not clear what your goals are here. You say you want to bring fun but you’re d…

Got it. Up until now, I never equated anger with victim mentality, but I see it now. Getting uncontrollably angry is allowing someone/something else to control my emotions, and is effectively blaming them for my own internal emotional response. I appreciate the feedback. I'm going to continue exploring this.

*** OYS Continued **\* Reflections on TWOTSM Chp 16: Women Are Not Liars In the feminine reality, words and facts take a second place to emotions and the shifting moods of relationship. This is exactly the bullshit I've been doing. It's why I have a friend my age who has written novels, and I haven't. This comment was a wake up call. I could have written it myself. I've got 3 book ideas in various stages of preliminary outline or draft, yet have always come up with excuses why I've never followed through and finished them. I'm seeing your point now. My initial calculations were based less on data, and more on aspiration / very rough estimates. Over the past month, I've been consistently losing 1lb a week, and with my recent gain in muscle/lifts, this seems to be about 1% BF lost a week. It's a strong trend, and a sustainable one. That being said, based on my new calculations, even if I maintain the trend, I won't hit my goal. It's more accurate now to suggest that I need to be closer to 170lbs (or alternatively, s…

MCT oil is 115 calories per tablespoon. Unless you're severely lacking fats in your macros, there's no reason you should be taking in calorie-dense food when you're trying to restrict calories. Good point. I've restarted my calorie tracking today (after 3 days off), and the calories make it more difficult to achieve goal. I'm playing around with various foods to see what works. Thanks again for this discussion. I came back and reviewed this discussion, and have started to re-read TWOTSM to go deeper into examining my purpose and satisfaction.
