It's frustrating as hell to me that as a leftist woman, I grew up around a lot of feminists. Many (probably most) of my friends identify as feminist, but not a single one argues that men can't be raped. So that's all well and good... but they also won't loudly and publicly defend male victims like they do female victims, so this shit takes root on social media and is allowed to proliferate. No one speaks up against it and anyone who does is demonized.

I also thought that person in the comments that said "99+% of rapes are unreported" was pretty wacky. That is a bold claim. Conservatives in my community IRL are just as miserable as the leftists I interact with here, they just tend to fake it and blame the left for all their problems. They are also less likely to seek help for or even discuss legitimate mental health issues which perpetuate their misery.

This so much. I think it’s unfortunate that MRA as a term has become totally and maybe irrevocably linked with the misogynist mess the subreddit evolved into, I remember a time when it was more egalitarian but it’s been a looooong time. I am staunchly egalitarian and am so glad I found this sub recently. As a woman it helps me balance my advocacy.
