The pain of betrayal, is Excruciatingly painful, I don’t wish it on any man here. Married 27 years

Part of your healing process is your mental health and physical health. Join another gym and put in place a no contact with your ex. This will help you move on, you can still see friends outside the gym. You don’t need a gym to participate in community programs.

Self care, mental and physical. Goals get some and work towards them.

We have all been there and it will get better as time goes by. Self care both physical and mental are very important and it sounds like you are doing the physical part but are you doing the mental part? Seeing a therapist, journaling, perhaps a divorce coach. All to help you move on. Do you have goals? Written them down and actively working on them? Are you seeing male friends and perhaps venting a little and just being in the company of men (very important)

We have all been there, there are multiple feelings that you will go through, we all have. Self care and setting some goals is the key to moving on. If one of them is golf that’s fantastic.

I agree with you it’s not for everyone. I would always recommend a therapist and a lawyer, I myself used both and a glad I did. Some men want and need more. I am glad to hear you realized on your own what you needed to do to move forward.

I just want to be supportive of other men and their situation. If you worked in the health care field, I thought you would have been more understanding and show some empathy for others who want to help.

Thanks for the support and understanding. I want to help other men and I have to start somewhere, like when you get divorced you start all over again. I am sure your time can be spent bashing other men as well.

I am a man, I separated in Jun of 2023 and divorced in Jan 2024. My wife had an affair And I was married for 27 years. I don’t want men to do this alone and suffer without a plan and thats why I am doing this. The affair and end of the marriage was a very dark place for me. We as men are not great at asking for help or sharing our feelings and I would like to in a small way try to change that. I only will coach men because I am a man and I only know the man’s side and can relate to men. i hope t…

You have a future as well, you are selling yourself short. You must have goals and dreams, go get them make them happen. let the fall and winter of your life be the best part. I will be 59 this year I was married for 27 years and the divorce was final Jan 2024. I am excited about what lies ahead as you should be as well.

Cheating women want to control the narrative. They will also tell themselves and others lies to justify there actions. I don’t know your situation but I think a no contact policy would help you move along.

I believe there is an app for communicating about the kids if you are divorced? I would use that and then have no contact with her about anything else. You need boundaries, peach of mind. She won’t stop as long as you respond.

My wife cheated as well 27 years of marriage. I really think that when someone cheats Karma is going to hit them hard. the cheating wife only thinks of herself, no one else. -My adult children no longer talk to her -Her family and friends have less respect for her -She feels ashamed -She was fired from her job -Her father had a stroke the day after we separated and died 5 weeks later She will never get a good man with morals or values. The minute he learns that she is a cheater, who broke up the…

Same with my wife we were married 27 years. She had an affair and did a 180. Things that’s were important to her were no longer important. I don’t know why but I will never know and I am now ok with that but yes it was on my mind for a long time. I think as a women who has cheated on her husband, she has shown betrayal, deceit and lied her future looks bleak but it’s her journey.

Be there for your kids because they need you. When your kids become adults they will see what she has done to destroy the family, they will not forgive her. Cheating on a spouse affects everyone, family, friends and you. Cheaters have betrayed, lied and been dishonest. Is that someone you want to get back with. Did you know 80% of affairs fail after 6 months. I know her life is going to be bleak moving forward.

I think you know what to do. This popped up on a mindful app that I have, “remember someone has gone through exactly what your going through” growing up your parents gave you some worldly advice that always sticks with you. My mon gave me this tidbit and I have never forgot it “ fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.“ If some how you knew you had 20 years to live how would you spend your remaining time, dealing with this relationship or starting fresh and doing the things you alway…

80% of all affairs end after 6 months so really no surprise here. You are here second choice because her first choice does not want her. Is that what you what to be someone’s second choice? She will cheat on you again because she has done it once already, the second time for her will be easier because she has don it once already.

I have to ask. Did she just bring her issues to the new relationship? I’s like when someone has an affair, I’s thrilling and exciting for a while and everyone is on there best behaviour but then those old issues creep into the relationship. Those issues have never been dealt with? Was she looking to you to solve those issues for her? Or try to find happiness in you as opposed to first finding happiness in herself?

Sounds a little similar to my marriage of 27 years and is now over. My wife is an alcoholic who refuses to quit and she really needs to see a therapist as well but refused to do that as well. She chose to continue the affair even when my adult children asked her to stop. I don’t think your wife has hit rock bottom, whatever that looks like for her but you need to move on, because you deserve better.

This is interesting. This year our divorce is final we separated in June of 2023. My father in law was a functioning alcoholic for as long as I have know him 28 years. My wife is also an alcoholic, she drinks 5 to 7 nights a week an entire bottle of wine each night. I asked her to get help when we separated she said no “I will only drink on weekends she said” Ok your journey now not mine. The day after we separated, her father had a massive stroke. He died five weeks later. The day after he died…

When I told my son’s about the affair, there first response was she crossed a line that you do not cross. For them it was very black and white. My eldest asked if she was going to continue seeing her affair partner and she said “I don’t know” They both wanted her to say ”no” but she didn’t say that and two weeks later she was seeing him again. That’s when they felt abandoned.

Actions always speak louder than words. Only your daughter’s know the answer to that question, it would be healthy to talk about with them about how they are feeling. I come from a similar situation, my son’s are 21 and 23. They both feel what my ex wife did crossed a line (cheating) and the feel abandoned.

You say you have a lawyer, that lawyer works for you. You need to go to court now as others here have said, face this challenge head on embrace it and get on with it. The same for the IRS, go see a professional for advice, embrace it, it’s challenging but you need to move forward.

It’s a dark place and time in your life and will be for a period of time. I don’t know how long we are all different. Get a lawyer and a therapist, perhaps later a divorce coach. you wont have an appetite or sleep, unfortunately normal. Be honest with the kids even if some of this maybe your fault (I am not saying it is). There will be a light eventually after all this, difficult to believe now but I promise there is. You will need to have some communication because of the kids, but have no othe…

A lot of men rush back in. perhaps you need some time to work on you and know what it is you want out of yourself and a new partner. I have heard it said that when your not looking for someone is when you meet someone, I really don’t know if this is true or not.

She is most likely a narcissist. I was married for 28 years, she had an affair and decided to throw it all away. Our adult children no longer talk to her. She cheated, lied and was dishonest, I don’t know this person anymore. The things she said she valued family for example she has thrown away why? I don’t know and never will probably. I honesty think her future is bleak. Like me, it’s time for you to move on.

Some great advice here. 28 years together, my divorce will be final later this month. Throw yourself into your work, gym, therapy, and learn to be alone. Rely on friends not to vent (although a couple of friends are good to vent to but not all the time) what does your new life look like? You are in the second half of your life what does that look like moving forward. travel (you will meet people), have goals write them down and work towards them. Staying busy is so important. It’s ok to have dow…
