The woman who was interviewed actually stated that women want their own spaces for "emotional and religious reasons," soooo that's actually a fair statement edit: a word

Well, in my life experience, you should never doubt somebody's ability to physically harm another person. It does seem like this woman won't be able to hurt the cameraman. But how do we know for certain?

That's interesting. Where do you draw the line between entertainment and defense? Walking towards somebody, saying "I'm gonna fucking break your shit" doesn't sound harmless to me.

So you should let someone try to attack your friend because they're fat?

It just shows you that the justice system is more concerned with potential female victims than they are actual male victims.

The point is that overall, Valentine's Day is about a man romancing his girlfriend/wife/etc to make her feel happy and cherished. Some men love doing this. Others see it as a drag because, hell, I like to make my girlfriend feel special all the time so why do I have to jump through hoops on this specific date. Meanwhile, there isn't a equivalent expectation for women (I'm speaking generally here) to do the same for their husbands/boyfriends/etc.

This always pissed me off. How are murder and attempted murder different crimes? The intent is the same in both cases, only the results differ.

That sets a precedent that she can walk all over him and set the boundaries of what he can or can't do with his own kids. If he was misinformed, he can consult his attorney (I'm guessing he has one if he's divorced) to get clarity.

So it's his responsibility to hold himself to the highest "adult and compassionate" behavior while she's throwing haymakers at him? He has every right to defend himself from immediate and imminent danger. Immediate=knock her down; imminent=make sure she doesn't get back up and attack him again. Next time a woman swings at you, go ahead and try your theory. You'll either end up in a hospital or you'll be right. I'll take my chances.

He has every right to neutralize the source of danger. Let's say he stopped after the initial 3-4 strikes. What if she got back up? It's clear she had no intention of stopping when he put his hand up and backed away from her; she continued to attack him. Any person can be trained in fighting/self defense. I'm not going to wait to find out whether she can injure me or not. She initiated the attack, and he finished it. Simple as that.

It reminds me of the "Ban Bossy" campaign that circled around here a couple years ago. They were advocating that applying words like bossy or bitchy to young aspiring women was damaging their will to achieve. The ironic part is that the people they featured in their commercials (Victoria Beckham, Beyonce, Condoleeza Rice, ect.) were ALL very assertive and strong willed women who were able to overcome these issues and achieve anyway.

About a year ago my sister called me crying, asking to pick her up at her friends place. She and her friends had gone out to a club and reserved a booth to put their things/hang out in when they weren't dancing. When they came back there was a group of young men hanging out in their booth, so either there was a mistake by the staff or these guys just broke in. My sister was 23-24 at the time, but she still hadn't learned that this wasn't the 1950's. When she called me she made it sound like her …
