You have 3 issues: 1) division of net family property 2) parenting time with your son 3) support - both spousal support and child support. Income and parenting time drive the amount of child support you pay. Income also drives spousal support, as well as the duration of the marriage.

There is a great book out there called “Finding Awareness” by Amit Pagedar. He teaches a critical truth that applies to Divorce and life in general. Attachment creates suffering. “In holding on I lose. I’m letting go I receive.” In complete surrender lies the key to effortless control. And peace.

What stands in the way becomes the way. If support isn’t settled (net family property and parenting time are the other 2 issues) then prepare for both spousal support and child support debate, fees, paperwork. All y’all better get smart about threat vectors in divorce. There are 3 if you have children. Support is split into two with both spousal and child support coming into question. If you are the payor, the recipient can do whatever they want to with the money. In your case, the other party i…

I know how to do everything. From raising capital to running the build. And by God at this point I’d work for free just to see it happen.

I’ve been fighting in the courts for over 10 years. It’s drained me. But what I’ve learned through the process is there is an incredibly scalable business opportunity that can fix the problem. 90% of the process can be made digital. Introduce some algorithmic decisioning on child and spousal support payments, division of net family property, custody and access issues, etc. Root the algorithms in law. And sell the cloud-based divorce service as a subscription service. Parties self service on an a…

Don’t give in - I know it’s hard - but don’t do it. Better to fight for what’s right than to let her steamroll you and have the additional benefit of receiving more child and spousal support than what she would be entitled to if she had the children 50:50. Document everything. Stay calm. And it will all work out. My ex still calls the cops on me TEN YEARS LATER. By now everyone knows what the truth is (I’m sane and she is totally crazy).

I learned something through my 10 year horrific divorce process. They can make all the false claims they want. The truth does not come quickly. But it does indeed come. If you are a good dad, your kids will recognize you for it. I fought with all I had to keep my kids in my life. I finally got them after she was charged with a DWI (she caved after that). Unfortunately so many women take this tactic of false claims to keep the pressure on you. Don’t give in! After a while the judges see through i…

I had pretty much the same experience as you.

I’ve gone through a horrific 10 year process and am still fighting for my financial life. The lawyers help but also have a financial incentive to keep you fighting. So be careful! I’ve had it worse than most but it ALL depends on your partner and their willingness to work out a deal. You need to educate yourself. There are basics to learn online. For you they are: division of marital property, spousal support, and child support. Understanding how each of these work and what drives the numbers is…
