Tbh relying on impact factor of the publishing journal is not always the best way on inferring the accuracy of a study but Blinkhorn's critique of Irwing and Lynn (2005) is pretty common sense. Not all studies that find a mean sex difference in IQ are obviously flawed but you also have to account for studies that fail to replicate this result. That is definitely a confound worth noting but a) some authors have tried to get around this issue by investigating sex differences in the g factor extracted from IQ batteries instead of the full scale IQ score and they also did not find consistent differences. Results are more consistent among children but most battery tests definitely show less than 4 points difference.
