The message was that both suck, but the person I originally replied to was acting like Islam is the only horrendous religion there is. Further many of these countries where homosexuality is punishable by death has a majority or significant Christian population.

Being anti-contraception is specifically biblical in nature, which exacerbates the AIDs epidemic, since, you know, people aren't going to stop fucking. As for kiddy diddling, all religions are pretty much designed from the ground up to fuck your kids, so, you know. Don't go to church.

Or I could believe that you need to believe that's okay to be a valid Christian? Hamstring their horses while you're at it. You don't get to pick and choose.

People have both of those things. They're being disallowed by the very same government. It's your job to obey god's law until it disobey's god's law, and there's no way you can say the US is following God's law in any capacity.

And yet when we look at the most monolithic entity within Christianity we see the same things. The Catholic Church has and has had an enormous hand in spreading AIDs throughout the world. The Catholic church has had countless pedophilia scandals since practically St. Peter. Now, why do most Christians at least in the west! profess to a more peaceful worldview? Because we live in luxury compared to people we've been bombing into the stone age for the past 50 years. It's a lot easier to say live a…

Jesus being pretty adamant that you should pay your taxes, heal the sick, feed the poor and clothe the needy is a pretty clear indication that just charity was not the goal. While you're welcome to argue the New Testament's overruling of the Old, I hold that both books are necessary to a Christian worldview. As such these verses dictate that refugees are to be taken into a host nation with Christian values. It's pretty obvious that a welfare program to help those people assimilate would also inc…

I understand not wanting to feel judged. I've gone through a lot of stuff I don't want to talk about. And I'm in general an exceedingly private person. But the best thing about therapy is that your therapist is legally not allowed to talk to anybody about you. They can literally lose their license to practice if they talk about your case with any details more than "a patient said 'X'." I know there's a stigma against it, but nobody has to know you're attending therapy. But you need to find someb…

Why are you against therapy? It's okay to have a physical sickness that affects your happiness and wellbeing, but not okay to have a mental sickness that does so? And by sickness, I don't mean you're Bipolar, or Schizophrenic. I just mean, maybe you have the equivalent of an infection that can be treated with mental antibiotics (constructive discourse and venting your hurt). At the very least, you need to talk to somebody, and generally trained professionals are the safest to talk to, unless you…

I think for your first point, places like the incel subreddit are a good place to look at entitlement versus frustration. Toxic masculinity is masculinity that hurts men. Like I said, bottling up emotions, not being allowed to think or act in certain ways etc. Maybe jump out of the tumblrverse and try to find some scholarly articles. Things like woman-on-woman slutshaming, or others shaming women for wanting to focus on their career over their family life are examples. I cannot comment on manspr…

Entitlement is the belief that you are owed something, which is different from having a desire not being met. If I believed I was owed a sandwich and a cup of coffee to gently float into my hands from the sky and didn't receive it, I'd be entitled. If I was pissed I didn't have any bread or ground coffee to make my breakfast, I'd be upset over a realistic desire not being met. This is a very very loose comparison to what people are talking about when using the word entitlement, but I'm not in th…

What the fuck? "Second World Country" refers to the Cold War notion that communist and capitalist society are separate worlds. The "first" world was America and her allies, and the "Second" world was Russia and hers. The "third" world were countries too insignificant to worry about. I'm sorry to bother you, but goddamn. EDIT: Somebody beat me to the punch. Sorry to bother you twice, then.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
