I've said some pretty ridiculous lines in front of the right audience. As long as you know their reaction before you say it you'll be fine almost every time. And if you say something like what OP mentioned and she responds positively or even takes a playful shot back at you, it shows she's comfortable in her own skin, confident and easy to talk to. Makes the rest of the night a whole lot easier if you continue playing your cards right.

Just gonna add to what others are saying. Post pictures of you being social, doing fun/ adventurous activities, etc. If girls only have your Instagram as a way of seeing who you are then you need to show a representation of a worthy guy. Another note is that Instagram isn’t your “primary” way of getting girls, that will always never talking to them in person as you said you normally do.
