While the candy coat line is pretty clever I do have to disagree. Being mean doesn't work in a casual setting. Anyone with basic social skills knows why this is true.

Most people don't respond to strangers being assholes. Maybe if a close friend, family member or doctor said something to them then it'd be the motivation they needed to lose the weight. Not some random, socially off guy who spends too much time on reddit.

Dude what is wrong with you? It's not your job to give someone "life changing" advice. Sure she asked you, but from the way you spoke to her it seems like you're not even acquaintances. In that case telling someone they're grossly overweight isn't productive, which makes it vehemently mean. You see this is what happens when socially awkward people get too caught up in an us vs them movement. You think all women are your enemy, so you just made this girl feel terrible about herself for no reason …
