Listen, in the impoverished areas of Africa, people don't know the pros and cons to circumcision. I'm not faulting them, but they are ignorant. They act according to superstition and custom; these are people who believe that having sex with a virgin will cure you of AIDS. Letting them decide whether or not they want to be circumcised would be a disaster because they would not act rationally or listen to "foreign" science. In developed countries where STI's aren't rampant, absolutely. In AIDS-ravaged sub-Saharan Africa, they don't have this luxury. I think slightly decreased sexual stimulation is a miniscule price to pay for better penile hygiene and lower HIV contraction in the world's most desperate places. I'm not trying to ignite a debate, but can you at least admit that a circumcision initiative in AIDS-ridden African countries is a good idea?
