I think the ideal response here is to whip out your phone and record it, then post it on YouTube with his name attached so that every time he applies for a job in the future his potential employers will see it.

“it shows me men are focused on moving forward in measurable ways- increasing fitness- mental and physical, raising their net worth etc” I agree with a lot of what you've said but I think this is very unfair. To me, it shows that there are very real barriers women have to overcome that men don't. Men don't worry about the consequences of setting boundaries or standing up for themselves because they typically don't face any. Women do face consequences if they don't do it exactly the right way, es…

After re-reading this whole article makes more sense. It’s written for men TO HELP THEM AVOID DIVORCE not to encourage them to be good partners. The “do the bare minimum so she won’t leave you” is by design, because it was always about figuring out how to keep her from leaving rather than how to make her happy.

Right! His attitude is like "I don't care if I live in total filth but she does so I guess I could have been generous and done some dishes once in a while." I'm also still not convinced he fully gets it - the whole article is about how he realizes he should have cared because things were important to her, rather than realizing that he's an adult and should have adult responsibilities like basic housework. And some of the examples of things he thinks he should have done still don't even reach the…

This situation calls for Lundy Bancrofts lesser-known book, “Should I stay or should I go?”. Do you think she would read it if you asked her to? It’s written for any woman in a relationship that isn’t very good but doesn’t seem bad enough to break up. l only needed to read a couple of chapters to convince me to end my relationship with my lazy ex. If your sister will read it I think she will do the same.

Men in interviews around the U.S. said they quit school or didn’t enroll because they didn’t see enough value in a college degree for all the effort and expense required to earn one. I think most really believe that a well-paid job will just magically present itself at some point, so why bother with any effort.

Phil Dunphy and Claire from Modern Family. He's such a beloved character and Claire is portrayed as a controlling uptight wife. In reality he's a total manchild and she's parenting him and their 3 kids and is only "uptight" because she's sick of his shit. And she's way out of his league.

Lots of people have given suggestions for great places to volunteer but it's also worth considering just working some overtime if that's an option for you, and donating the money you make. This is especially true if you have a high paying job. Donating our time tends to have more feel good benefits but in many cases monetary donations are more beneficial. Of course this is not always true and it varies a lot from one organization to another, but it's worth thinking about.

It sounds like you need to take the focus off men and focus on yourself. Be the best version of yourself and maybe you will meet a HVM along the way. Trying to attract more men doesn't necessarily translate to finding a HVM, and trying to turn a LVM into a HVM will never work. Just focus on yourself for now, and becoming a high value woman. It flies in the face of the claim that women should date down if they want to be treated like queens, etc. From what I've seen FDS strongly opposes this view…

what about those of us who have never experienced such interest? It leaves me wondering if it’s my fault guys don’t pursue me because I’m not pretty enough. It makes me wonder if maybe I got cosmetic surgery or looked like someone else they’d be interested and do the kinds of things you say this guy did to get to know and pursue you. Mens actions are typically a reflection on them, not you. You're wondering what you're doing wrong because men aren't treating you this way, but it's because they'r…

Perpetuating the myth that "good men can commit domestic violence too" is so dangerous. NO. I'm sure many of us here have read Lundy Bancroft's book which makes it clear that abusers don't change, and abusive men will always be abusive. The false narrative that an abuser can be a "good guy who just can't control his temper sometimes" keeps so many women in abusive relationships because they believe and hope that he will change. An abusive man is NEVER a good man. I'm pretty skeptical that this g…

For one thing he has argued at length with those that tell him how ridiculous this is, while only responding with thanks to a couple of the (many) helpful comments. He still has no appreciation for other people doing the work for him. He is putting his energy into being defensive rather than being grateful for help

Ha, seriously. He pretends he's working towards fixing the problem but his first step is to ask for advice rather than just googling the basics. He wants somebody else to do the basic labor of finding the information. This man has clearly been babysat his whole life.

I actually no longer believe that most neurotypical men are somehow incompetent or “bad at” emotional intelligence, body language and signals. They just simply are not expected to do anything. I agree so much with this. I am naturally not very emotional and communication doesn't come easily to me. So I work really hard at developing social skills and being warmer and more expressive, because that's what is expected of me and people think I'm a horrible person if I don't. It takes a lot of effort…

All we know about any of these people is what they're like in public. You really can't know what happens behind closed doors. I would caution against deciding anyone is high value based on their public image. Many abusers are experts at portraying themselves well.

I think a lot of AITA posts are useful for helping people see that they're being gaslit. Obviously in a case like this he shouldn't have to ask but I could totally imagine her asking about this scenario from her point of view - "AITA for being upset that my boyfriend expected me to pay half for everything on an expensive holiday with his family, where I couldn't afford to eat? He makes 3x what I do but I did agree to go 50/50 on everything so maybe I'm the asshole". I see scenarios like this all…

Why is she trying to force fatherhood on a extremely flawed man? Seriously! He works 80 hours a week by choice, likes a strict routine and prefers as little social interaction as possible. What part of that made her think he should be a father? But he "checks all the boxes". The bar is just so low.

I'm so sorry you're in this situation. I think the best thing you can do now is speak with an immigration attorney. There are organizations that provide free assistance and it would be good to get some ideas on how to tackle this. There may be options other than marriage-based green card that you aren't aware of.

This is male entitlement at it's finest. Do not feel guilty about saying no. He's not just asking you to "donate" something, he's asking you to put yourself through a medical procedure (possibly even a surgery?) which ALWAYS carries a risk, and you should not put yourself at risk for a man who wouldn't even provide the bare minimum, financially or emotionally, for his own child. You have zero obligation to him. (Bear in mind that he did have an obligation to you as a child and he didn't meet it)

Jordan Peterson is very eloquent and I think to dumb people that makes him seem highly intelligent. Plus he's telling men exactly what they want to hear, which is a very effective way to gain popularity. Ugh

Do not let him suck you into a long drawn-out conversation about it. That is what he wants. "I'm leaving. Don't contact me again" is more than enough. Some places provide a police escort for this if you request it. I think they usually just wait outside the door and make sure you leave safely.

I saw a great tip recently to check if your boyfriend is subscribed to OnlyFans by trying to register using his email address. If he's already registered it will tell you that the email is already in use. Just be aware that if it he didn't have an account he will get a registration email, so he will know someone tried to use his email address. I think most people would assume it was just a phishing scam or something, but that depends on the man and your relationship and whether he knows this hac…

This is so nice to hear. I wish I had any attraction to women but unfortunately I don't. But this post really got me thinking. If I was dating a man who treats me the way I've treated previous boyfriends I would think I'd won the lottery. I knew I had put way more effort into my relationships than my partners, but this is a slightly different way of thinking about it and it's depressing.

Somebody still has to arrange that and manage it, and keep on top of what needs to be done. It's still part of the mental load which almost always falls on women.

Phil Dunphy from Modern Family. Another manchild who is presented as fun-loving and adorable, while Claire is portrayed as uptight and controlling when she's just trying to parent 3 kids and a useless husband. He gaslights her, lies, shirks all responsibility, drools over Gloria and doesn't recognize any of Claires accomplishments. It's always annoyed me that he's such a beloved character.

I got a stellar crash course in real estate (word to the wise, it’s a real fucking scam unless you pay cash, and that’s the only way you’ll be able to compete in this market anyway) I would love to hear more about this. I've been starting to research the house buying process (even though I'm several years away from being in a position to buy) and I'm curious what realtors do that justifies them charging so much.

I've noticed this so much since moving to the US. In my home country (also a developed country that is quite similar in most ways to the US) there are plenty of overweight men, but they typically accumulate belly fat or just fat that is evenly distributed all over. Since moving here I see a lot men with the "girly fat" you described - fat around the hips and thighs with narrow shoulders. I find it so unattractive. I agree, it's so much worse than a dad bod. I suspect the US diet is a factor too.…
