LinkedIn request from exOne scenario: She got into a fight with new husband, she's upset, nostalgia kicked in, and she looked you up. She felt safe trying to connect because a click can always be explained away as an accident or a cache issue. Best response: Block her and move on. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/02/25 10:33 PM
Should I get a dog?If you can provide a forever home, yeah, definitely. I had already owned two dogs for 10 years when I divorced. During the divorce, I took my dogs for walks all the time. They helped quite a bit. I was unstable tho. I didn't know where I was going to live, if they allowed dogs, etc. It took me a long time to re-home them with someone I knew. They probably would have had much harder lives if I hadn't. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/02/25 08:49 PM
Struggling today..It's been two years since I finalized. Lots of progress. But there's still some rollercoaster stuff happening. There's no rhyme or reason. It's less frequent. Plow through, see if tomorrow is better? | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/02/25 08:43 PM
How do you process the memories?I built a brick wall. My ex and I are on different paths. I really think the answer is shutting the relationship completely down to heal. It's been two years for me. Who knows what the future holds. But for now, it's time to learn how to live solo again. So far, it's been going great. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/02/25 06:23 PM
Ok not sure what to doThe petition / response thing? You should have 30 days to respond. I think the petition has a lot of check boxes for temporary alimony, child support, etc. Check to see if she got any of these. All the rest, house, pension, etc won't be settled for at least six months. So don't worry about it for now. Just focus on those check boxes. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/02/25 06:13 AM
LA divorce Lawyer AdviceMandatory Settlement Conferences are designed to unloosen stuck CA divorces. It's like structured mediation with a court approved lawyer or judge playing mediator. It's on steroids. I think they're meant to last hours... like, you'll be done done. It's risky. There can be a lot of pressure to settle and no chance to sleep on offers. You definitely want to prep for it. Also, seriously, talk to your lawyer and make sure you understand what an MSC is and what happens if a settlement is not reached.… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/02/25 09:57 PM
Who all is spending Valentine’s Day alone?Definitely alone. I don't have an issue with that at all. Valentine's Day can feel like a chore. It wraps up pretty much everything I don't like about marriage. Make her feel special. Scout out new restaurants and get a reservation weeks in advance. Find yet another flower shop because the last one messed up. Think of gift ideas because Amazon suggests happy trash, slippers, and robes. Maybe look for a first edition book. Or make something creative and memorable that includes the kids' photos. W… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/02/25 04:52 PM
Put Truck Nuts on Her CarIf life is a bento box, she's that weird ass orange kimchi fucking experimental shit made by a non-Korean sitting in the upper right. Sure, I could poke around it with chopsticks. But it'd probably fuck up the rest of the meal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/02/25 04:20 PM
Tips for keeping spousal alimony lowAfter our divorce, my ex suddenly doubled her annual salary. "Something" motivated her. Best guess is that she lost her unwilling pack mule. I had asked her to get a modest raise for our family for the previous ten years. Nope. But she got a raise after divorce when it was just herself. This seems like cheating. It proves she was always able to work, never willing to work. And I really don't think this is the spirit of alimony but very, very, very common. It's easy to check. A simple retrospecti… | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/02/25 06:25 PM
I begged and I regret doing it!There is a real-world. And there is a divorce-world. Divorce-world has some super crazy shit in it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/02/25 05:17 PM
Won but Feel BadMy ex lost alimony. I did feel guilty at first. Not sure why. I feel she took advantage of me for all those years. And yeah, that's actually true. Go figure. After the divorce, when she had to make ends meet, she went from 50k/yr to 100k/yr and basically doubled her own pension with 25 years. FML. So, don't feel too bad. We should all be responsible for ourselves and our kids, but not another grown adult. My wife road on my coattails (and I resented it) and then finally did what I've always aske… | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/02/25 07:02 PM
