This is just wild speculation but: There are lots of things that lead to divorce. Often one or both people have neuroticism, chronic negativity, engage in adultery, unresolved childhood issues, problems communicating, alcoholism or drug problems, need for new experiences, or just plain antisociality/narcissism. Generally, one or more of those traits can lead to divorce. And the best predictor of someone having those traits IS divorce. So I don't think it's one mechanical explanation - it's a bun…

You're getting downvotes but no one is rebutting you which is unfair. Domestic male to female assault happens for a variety of different reasons and shouldn't be simplified to "women stay in these relationships because x".
