If it's a significantly worse problem for women, I think something like this can make sense. If the majority of women are more likely than not to be sexually assaulted by men in a train in a given week, separation can make sense. It's probably not that bad, but I think there's a point where it makes sense. It starts to make less sense if it's not happening overwhelmingly in a single direction. If men are frequently harassed by either men or women, or if women are frequently harassed by other wom…

Is it common for men to be sexually harassed on trains in Japan? If it is, I haven't heard much about it. I can try to do some research after work, but could you give me somewhere to start?

You're not alone in thinking this way. So many people in this sub insist on making this a hill to die on, and can't accept that some of us just don't see it as an evil that needs to be fought.

Popcorn chicken, of course. It looks like you submitted before finishing your sentence.

Oh dang. I misread it. I thought those were "and"s, but they're "or"s. Cohabiting OR financial/emotional support OR presenting in public as a couple. Holy crap. Thanks for making me re-read that.

There's always the option of not moving in until you're married. Not a popular option these days, but it's a pretty simple solution. Edit: I misread it. I thought those conditions for a conjugal relationship were "and"ed together, but they're "or"ed together. Cohabitation is only one of the conditions that can make it a common-law marriage.

"A penis and Y chromosomes in each of your cells". That's a lot of tiny penises.

Is she keeping records of this? It sounds like something that should be brought up if the new hire does mess up.

Whoa...I find that a lot of German words can be picked apart and translated roughly to English by finding cognates. Maybe I'm missing possible matches, but that doesn't seem to work on this one. Not at all.

Yeah, the insults and emotional responses are kind of embarrassing to see. I don't consider circumcision to be necessary in my Christian faith, but I have respect for the tradition because of Christianity's roots in Judaism. If this sort of anti-circumcision thought was a more visible aspect of men's rights, I would be much more hesitant to associate my self with MRAs. At least for now, I can ignore it, and support men's rights in more important issues.

I'm not sure all of America should be used as a comparison point. That's what makes it possible to argue "If 50% of America is female, shouldn't we have 50% women at Google?" A more appropriate comparison would be college graduates, because that already filters out most of the skew based on personal interests, opportunity, etc. For example, more Asians probably go to college than whites, compared to all Asians and whites in America. This makes sense because white people are probably more spread …

Oh you've gotta be kidding m--oh, yeah sounds about right.

I know this is distasteful, but I find it amusing that you said companies get brownie points for hiring non-white people.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I knew there was a reason I disliked Mozilla. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm in the same boat. I can kind of see where they're coming from, but the emotional reaction is kind of ridiculous.

If I heard that out of nowhere, I'd be very confused and just shrug it off. I'd like to keep it out of harm's way, thank you.

I wouldn't expect "an historic" to be acceptable, actually. The only exception I'd make for "h" is in spoken English, when one's accent silences the "h" (so the word basically starts with a vowel anyway). If there are any words that actually start with a silent "h", I think I would also expect them to use "an". I think "u" might be even weirder, since some words are pronounced starting with a vowel (umbrella) and others starting with a consonant (unicorn). I don't think it would be "an unicorn",…

Yeah, I'm not sure how this sub thinks drag is ok. I thought there was a more conservative trend here.

Yeah, it's the most annoying thing here for me. I hope others realize that not everyone concerned about men's rights has an issue with circumcision.

Yeah, I don't get why this sub gets so upset about it, either. I follow this sub because of basically everything else discussed here, but I find it odd how the sub can't seem to handle dissenting views on this.

Yeah, that's the one. The wording isn't specific to women, but I think it was only posted in the women's bathrooms. So it was a service intended for and advertised to women. And point by point, they both mention the date not being who you thought they were from their profile or the date just not going well. They both also provide an easy out just for not liking the person. The bloke's version just doesn't ask if you feel unsafe, although I almost think it's implied by subverting it with humor. P…

If I remember right, the women's one had one that was something "he's kind of weird." If they really mean a legitimate creepy weird, they could have said so. Just generally being weird is about on par with a gal taking about herself too much. So the women's one isn't just about serious reasons to ditch the date.

I would almost sooner expect one of them to see the poster's non-feminist activity (like commenting here) and call them out on it. Then if their reputation is at all accurate, the post will be immediately deleted.
