If you have a real opportunity to work here, I would look into it. Sometimes the opportunities for women here are fantastic. And the work life balance can be better for women here because of the availability of domestic help. But it really depends on the company you work for. A lot of global companies enforce a 6 day work week. But others, especially government affiliated companies, abide by government recommendations. Starting Jan 3, the UAE is switching to a 2.5 day weekend, which a lot of peo…

I live in the UAE and love it here. It is very likely that your bf is going have a lot of pressure on him to get married (if there is not already) from his family. It’s common here for GCC men to travel to the USA for schooling and work when they are single and then return when they are ready to settle down. Most have girlfriends in the states. Some will bring their girlfriends back and marry them. Some will end things with the girlfriend and marry someone their family approves of. Others will k…

About a year ago I started taking stretching classes at a gym connected with a ballet school. I love how I feel after each class and my flexibility and mobility has improved so much. Recently, at 40 years old, I got my splits. My husband is also enjoying the benefits.

We have a real estate brokerage. I quit working the month before my oldest was born. When his business started to struggle and my younger daughter was born with some significant health issues, I started working again in real estate. I was moderately successful and my income did help. But our marriage was in a terrible state. I was exhausted. And my husband was super depressed. In a last ditch effort to save his business we sold everything. I quit working and went back to managing the kids and ho…

I waited until my 7th month with my first. That gave me enough time to get everything ready for my daughter and I also got to enjoy my last few months as childless adult.

I’m tall, 5’10”. I definitely became more confident in my height when I started playing sports in college. It was the first time I was regularly around women my height and taller. My husband also helped my confidence. He’s shorter than me. But he has always loved my height.

When my kids were younger I noticed the moms at school were always divided into 2 groups- the working moms and the SAHMs. I think it had more to do with availability than anything else. The working moms tended to get together in the evenings and on weekends. SAHMs usually met up during the school day. Most SAHMs are too busy with dinner and family stuff to go out for drinks with friends on a school night.

Something I’ve found so helpful in building relationships with men is the using the FORD method when engaging in conversation. Here is a YouTube video about it: https://youtu.be/vU-ibdHkz4Y The Ford method is a great way to have engaging small talk, show men you are interested, and leave men feeling they can trust you and feel good about themselves.

The way I catch him looking at me, even after nearly 20 years together and 2 kids, is always a huge confidence booster. That fact that he is vulnerable around me also reminds me how much he trusts me.

I had my first at 26. I didn’t start showing until i was around 20 weeks. My body snapped back quickly. I wore my pre-pregnancy jeans home from the hospital. My second was born when I was 28. I started showing a lot earlier but in the end my weight gain was the same for both. It took a little longer to get back to a flat stomach again. I thought my weight would stay relatively the same for the rest of my life since I managed to keep fit throughout my pregnancies. However, it was a different stor…

My husband is not my best friend. He is incredibly close to me. But my relationship with my best friend is completely different than the relationship I have with my husband. I know neither my husband or I would be very happy if we tried to get from each other what we get in the relationships we have with our friends.

I used to walk and run like a duck due to scoliosis and one leg an inch and a half shorter than the other. My mom was constantly trying to correct me. It never worked for the long term. However, a couple years ago I started to do some hip opening exercises daily. It helped my gait tremendously. I still walk a little bit odd, but it’s hardly noticeable.
