In my western country, among middle-class adult men? This issue is almost non-existent, I'd say. When I took philosophy classes at uni things were entirely different but these guys are a very specific demographic.

I'm not sure what the aim of such a post is. Like, some women will say that's very close, some will say that's hardly close and they have different kidns of preferences. What does that tell you. Are you honestly not aware of a diverse range of opinions, or will you only cherry-pick the answers you feel are proofing your point, or what's the reasoning behind all this?

I would probably cut contact with such a family member and advice him to get therapy idk? I would probably also warn this woman about him 3:)

I have to ask you how old you are and what illnesses you've been diagnosed with, OP. The kind of immense “discomfort” you describe is something that the vast majority of people experience in their lives at university, and probably twice or three times over. Women have men on their classes who were once interested in them and approached them all the time, or maybe they were interested in someone who wasn't interested back. And then obviously the guys and girls who approached their romantic intere…

i mean i really dont give a fuck about her That's why you made ten or so posts in several different subreddits ranting about this
/r/PurplePillDebate27/11/24 10:19 PM

Buddy I wasn't the same person that sent you the links. I wouldn't have posted something like that without further ado, but I'm quite sure I'd be able find five or so abstracts that would strengthen the narrative you so vehemently disagree with (without any personal agenda ofc) while you, on the other hand, would probably be able to find five abstracts that claim older Nigerian dudes are the very best guys or something. But honestly, I am not autistic enough to spend my time like that and that s…

a man who is a virgin well into his adulthood, let's say after 25 or max 30 Is this the max. age? I'd stay it's still late bloomer territory, although obviously opinions and preferences might differ. you or any woman you know has ever met a man who seems perfectly normal, that you find attractive, who is sufficiently confident, charismatic etc etc but that one moment or later he reveals (...) To be entirely honest, I personally don't. And it's not something someone would reveal on the first date…
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/24 01:16 AM

I was calling you out on a false assumption. You go on making up stuff about Nigeria and and bark back with 'women have no right to attention' (?). I think a conversation with some people here is completely pointless.

For once, it made me curious to find out for myself how far a person actually has to go to track down the writer (and how obsessed and crazy someone has to be to do it in order to be confirmed on their narrative). But it became apparent that this must have been an assumption (made with ridiculous self-assurance) because the author of the text turned out to be a woman in her early 20s. I mean obviously it's easier to imagine an enemy in your head who is the only thing stopping you from getting wi…

If you're not interested in hearing what women have to say then don't post a question directed at women.

Because for one, you are posting in a forum and a toxic sub around relationships, and if you were truly not interested in women you wouldn't be making posts about it. For another, your post speaks a clear language. Many of us here are older and more mature than you, and I am sure that many men here have been in a similar situation and had a similar mindset at some point in their life; I have been there in one way or another. It is just very obvious from your text that dating and relationships ar…

Well I'm sorry about the "strawman" because I am not sure what you wanted to say then. I agree with you that there can be a significant difference in maturity and experience between two adults (?) and that it makes sense to want to have someone on the same wavelength and that includes level of experience (even if this means that facts like this are often abused by the manosphere/predators; such as “she was already so mature for her age” etc. etc.). I think the age argument mainly stems from this…

A 27-year-old woman without any relationship experience would suffer from a greater power dynamic than a women who is 27-year-old and has had plenty of relationship experience, so I'm not sure what you're on about. This makes perfect sense. Even more so when you consider that she could then presumably either be on the spectrum or from a very sheltered upbringing, which could complicate things even further. A relationship to a much older, normally developed guy would sound like a terrible idea on…

And would you even turn down a top 1% guy just because you didn’t know him? Even more so because I wouldn't believe this is genuine lmao. So maybe he would actually be attractive to you in another type of situation or if you were able to see each other repeatedly like in a work setting, thus being objectively attractive already but lacking the luck of knowing you already. OP I really hate to say this to you but your profile text is anything but "mainstream" and "red flags" are very subjective - I mean whether you say "nerdy interest for Japan" or "anime" doesn't matter here, it considered to be one and the same interest/obsession. /r/PurplePillDebate22/09/24 02:07 PM

It doesn't matter that much. That's still a stranger telling you they were accused of a crime and basically asking you to trust them on that issue. Proceeding with caution is the least you should do in this scenario.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/24 03:39 PM
7

Your analogy is out of whack. In one scenario, the person is telling you they are the victim, in the other, they are telling you that they are possibly the perpetrator. If a men told me that, for instance, they were sexually assaulted, then of course there is no reason to not believe him (unless proven otherwise) because this would be really unfair.

Rape is a pretty serious crime. If someone has rightfully accused someone of raping them, than they were a victim of a henious crime (rather than "having had drama" in their life). With your logic, absolutely every life tragedy and bad thing happening to someone is "drama". You don't want this drama - fine. But maybe don't expect people to stay with you after you had some serious "drama" in your own life, then. Or maybe you believe that you'll stay "drama-free" for your rest of your life?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/24 02:54 PM

Okay. The vast majority is uncomfortable with being approached by strangers and the very few who don't can live without it (they have other options to get to know men, they can approach themselves). Thinking about the bigger picture here now.

Could we first of all establish whether or not they are voluntarily single and might simply have other preferences in life (and not simply assume anything), and whether or not they are even trying? What is your demographic OP, what is their age, what are they doing in their free time? How could we possibly know why your particular group has such a "problem" that needs to be resolved?

/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 02:31 PM

You don't need to feel so triggered about it. Men say they like big breasts or big butts all the time and then they might date whatever (or whomever). These are just ideal preferences women are talking here. As for me, I would have said "a full set of hair as well" but I then again, I've dated someone with no hair (genetical alopecia) and I would say that some people really look cool with it. But that's something unconventional and unique, you just don't think about these cases often.

How do you "notice" when a woman dresses more modestly or more unappealing in order to avoid male stares and harrassment? Can you read minds? Did you ask these women why they dress the way they do? That has to be the silliest comment on this thread so far

/r/PurplePillDebate17/06/24 01:13 PM

Well complete strangers approaching each other isn't that common (at least in my country) actually and is marked off as creepy often. As for "knowing", I was talking about it happening within a circle of friends, or let's say something like a class where the person has already talked and you've been able to get a bit of an idea (and even if not you at least have something to talk about, such as that the person has chosen the same class as you).

I guess I would have to find him attractive and have some indication that he is a really nice guy and also that we have something in common.. or something? Probably the same things that are needed for men in order for them to make the first move, but some man approach women only because of their outward appearance. That wouldn't be enough, in my opinion, but who knows, maybe I would find someone super stunning and make an exception. When I was young I definitely had crushes on guys because of th…

Oh, of course, if it's something like being approached by a stranger, then of course a “no, thank you” is mostly what happens. I was thinking more of more complicated relationships (friendships, or people you've gone out with and realized afterwards that you're not feeling it) and where you've gotten into discussions about what doesn't fit and they've felt really hur and rejected or something like that.

And women, have you ever rejected a man in a humiliating manner? I mean.. what is that supposed to mean, even? Humiliation means different things for different people, and if the things I've said accidentally hit a sore spot, then I probably humiliated that person. So yes, probably many times, unwillingly. Particularly if that person is insecure in themselves (which happens a lot of the time). Also, aren't differences between feeling hurtful/rejected/and feeling humiliated somewhat blurry and it…

I am known (in my circle of friends now, I mean) for the fact that clothes play a very important role for me. Mainly because I associate certain clothes with a similar subculture and interest/attitude towards certain things. [I think the topic of different types and subcultures is far too neglected here]. Let’s say you find out (by whatever means) that he was constantly buying these women gifts, doing them favors and paying for vacations with them. They gladly accepted his friendship, but they never slept together. I don't understand, was he buying them gifts because he was a nice person (which is nice, I guess?) or was he in love with every one of them? This is also a very cliché reply, but ultimately, it's a matter of perspective. Something that is truly hiding half of your face is a huge deal and women don't have an equivalent to this. We can have this argument back and forth or maybe you could just stop being a keyboard warrior on an abstruse internet forum and only date the people you like then.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/24 10:23 AM

It doesn't. Men who wear make up are not insecure. Whether you "get" it or not, but fashion statements - which make-up is a part of - are a preference and a form of self-expression that does not equal insecurity, otherwise everything from wearing fitting clothes to getting a good hair cut would be a sign of "insecurity". Please look like an absolute slob then so that you can show the world how secure your are in your own self. If anything, men who wear make up are brave because they defy gender …

You use the word hyperconformity a lot. It's also typical for a lot of autistic (male) people to cling on a few ideas they are repeating and to not deviate from them, btw. I don't see this hyperconformity you are talking about, to be honest. I think there hasn't been any time in history in which it was easier to deviate from the norm in terms of peculiar hobbies (being "nerd") and to not fit into gendered stereotypes. I would even go as far and say this is already happening and most men don't realise it because it didn't happen to them. I am not sure it's because I am living in Europe or maybe just in a liberal bubble or whatever, but the discrepancy between me approaching men and seeing how everyone else of my female acquaintances did, and men here who keep saying it never happens, is astonishing. I believe that 1) the halo effect is real. So we're all victims of it somewhat (both men and women) I also belive that I can tell whether the person is just hot or whether it's his personality, at least sometimes. An example "I just liked his vibe" or "I love his personality" That would mean "I find him hot and that is a given, but I also like his personality", which does not happen often and therefore is more noteworthy.

I also think it really is the opposite. Can this perhaps be explained by the fact that submissiveness is something that appeals to both sexes? Nothing. I think the comment wanted to point out that naming these reasons for it is disingenuous. The men who find thin women attractive want to date them because they consider them attractive. There is no logical or "commendable" reason behind it and the health argument is a pretense in the vast majority of cases. Just like women also don't date tall men because they absolutely need someone to pick something off the big shelf for them.

It's more common in university settings (some of them also just try to "find themselves out" and drop it in their 30s) and progressive big cities. Older married people just seem to have "affairs" and try to not make it public.

Same here (Western Europe). I usually see people like these on OLD and had the occasional "open relationship" bomb thrown at me like the OP says, but people of this demographic usually stay among themselves and frequent establishments that are a little bit.. different from traditional settings.

I would echo a comment here and say that I don't know anyone (including myself) from my past female friends who didn't either somehow secretly fancy a male friend in their lives or was actually hookin up with friends. I also subscribe to the theory that we deal with it very differently and therefore don't immediately end friendships when feelings come up (though of course it gets more complicated as soon as things get sexual). Related to this is my idea that some people simply... date each other…

empathy and kindness as personality traits. Also shyness and introversion, but I do might have particular concepts about that in mind (not that one that results in total awkwardness and low emotional intelligence). Appearance wise a slim body, babyface, a rather fashionista/flamboyant stlye, intelligent use of make up and stuff like this (lip stick, nail polish). But it mostly looks good on good-looking people, as always:p.

I am not sure you got my point. Clearly it's on you what you may or may not find attractive, but I am not sure you know you represent the very same thing you hate so much. To come back to the example with the gym, you would be the fat man who hates women who are also fat, but tells himself that his situation is of course completely different and therefore he is allowed to expect the fit, slim woman to accept him as he is.

I can accept your "most 40 somethings look like shit" argument, I just don't see how you are different somehow. Why should 20 somethings think you are different?

Interesting. Are you saying that you are looking for a young woman who has a way better personality than you and doesn't see you as "looking like someone who could be my father" despite the huge age gap? Whereas you can't look at your peers who are the same age as you the same way? Because to me it sounds like you are looking for someone way less shallow and judgemental than you. If you look at it that way, do you realize your double standards and that your personality kind of sucks here or is t…

And... do you feel happier now after this experience? Do you want to be with her again and and feel like you've found the one? Of course not. Since, you know, you don't feel the same about her. This "confession" from her might be good for your ego somewhere, for a few milliseconds. But at the end of the day, you're just looking for someone for whom you can feel about the same as she does for you. Your logic just doesn't do it.

I am hyper-triggered/have flashbacks about my university time and the countless approaches by creeps like this, I must say jump from campus to campus per week. For example, in Milwaukee on Monday I'd hit UWM, Tuesday I'd hit Marquette University, etc. This is so you don't burn a venue out. lol so there was a guy that approached me twice (!) - claiming the second time that he doesn't remember everyone he approaches which may or may not be true and I don't know which one is worse - and I thought h…

Hmmm.. I don't know? I think "kinks" and niche interests that deviate from the mainstream are harder to explain anyway. What would your explanation be? I think it's different with guys. A lot of the guys, especially when they are conservative and have a "traditional" view on gender roles, go for younger women for long-termn relationships too because they like to have a young mother to their children, and they don't mind being in a provider role. There is also the thing that women do have a much more limited time window for reproducing. Of course, though, I think that these are often just pseudo-arguments for guys to go after women that they fin…

That is not entirely correct, in fact, every non-manosphere thread has men in it who think that women can look good in middle age as long as they take care of themselves.

This is a new study about which many news articles have recently been written, so it is very up-to-date - after a quick search, however, I was unfortunately unable to find out whether the surveys are from 2024 or 2023 or something like that. But it's a recent one, yes. There are several other intersting news outlet who tackled that topic, if you are interested: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/feb/02/first-edition-gen-z-men-women-political

The ones of us who don't like attention don't like wearing hyper tight or revealing clothes, for starters. But also, as another comment says, "some" baggy clothes (that are long or sort of "thick") feel very uncomfortable and get hor really fast, so sometimes I prefer some "tighter" pants because they feel more comfortable to me - it doesn't mean they have to be the tightest, but then again, I don't know what counts as revealing to you. Who would have thought that not having a father or having a bad father would have a negative impact on attitudes towards women? It seems to confirm the suspicion that with so-called "Purple Pill" or "Red Pill" men - just like women who are accused of having "daddy issues", clear hatred of men etc. - there is a clearly recognisable pattern as to why they have become the way they are.

It's neurotic to claim isolated incidents or incidents that are unusual in the West are worth generalizing like it's a "it happens all the time and is a problem" kind of thing. Like, what ever you are experiencing (or think you are experiencing, or whatever) isn't "normal", not part of a bigger pattern etc. It's some fucked up shit whether it's a backwards culture your living in or your BPD girlfried.

"approach" as "gives social cues that say she wants to be approached", the thing is that approaching as well as social cues can come on a spectrum. "Casually explained" summed it up in a funny video ones ("Is she Into you?")

I am also wondering in which kind of society/countries these men are living in? Like, we kind of think or "pretend" it's only the Western world here on reddit but honestly, if it turns out the demographic is mostly non-Western countries, this would explain a lot.

Actually I would have said it's me so i don't want to lash out on anyone less successful than me, but I was friends with someone (we parted ways not too long ago) who was a virgin, so I'd say she "wins" here. Very complicated; she had a very rough upbringing and a very neurotic Chinese mother. She is either on the spectrum, has NPD or is a mix of those or other things. It is questionable how many of these "issues" were acquired, but her parents/her mother certainly played a big part in it. Very …

Yeah these men live in such weird bubbles (then again, I don't even know which cultures they come from). I would prohibit friendships between my (assumed) partner and my partner's ex-girlfriends, I would be called incredibly jealous and controlling.

Cause the stuff you describe, this mean girl bullshit — it reversely correlates with intelligence. I think in this particular case, without any children - I wouldn't think that a stay-at-home husband is needed. We could talk about this if we had children, but then I suppose we would take turns or something because I would like to spend some time with the kids, too? I don't know. Or I I would like both of us to have part-time jobs or something. In this particular case, I would just consider him to be unemployed (I would also judge this way if the roles were reversed). I don't know the reasons for this, of course, but I can imagine that it's a kind of overcompensated reaction to the outdated assumption that women don't actually have any sex drive at all or that sexuality doesn't play a major role in their lives. Emancipated women are trying to correct this misconception, which is absolutely a good thing to have, of course - but in doing so they may overshoot the mark and unfortunately overdo it a little. I mean it is basically common knowledge that even if you…

What is stopping a person with a group of friends from going to church (...) Not sure my contribution to that matter is in any way helpful, but I feel like this problems start with the fact that many people, in fact, do not have that many friends any more. Or maybe these few friends they do have do not actually want to hang out any more, so that the only lonely person that would actually be ready to go out and socialize can't really do that because no one is joining them (and let's be real, doin…
