For investments, does this imply primarily holding dividend-paying stocks? or can you reliably create income streams with price appreciation?

I always believed I was a liberal, I strongly believe in individual freedoms, freedom of speech and expression, freedom of religion or lack thereof... These days you have to make a distinction between classical and social liberalism. The former is what the word "liberalism" generally used to refer to at the dawn of the democratic era, but nowadays the word tends to be used to refer to the latter. This is especially true in United States politics -- e.g. when Fox News types rail against "liberals…

To counter the insecurity from someone cracking it (or a website owner saving it for malicious use) and discovering the scheme, you can pick a random number, place it somewhere in the password, then convert, say, FirstLetterOfSite to a number 1-26 or use NumberOfLettersInSite, then add it to the previously-chosen number. So your number is 7, template password is MyWeak7Password, Reddit = R = 18, 18 + 7 = 25, Reddit password is MyWeak25Password

You can keep the spreadsheet in a TrueCrypt volume. Only need to remember the volume password, and the file will remain encrypted as long as you don't have it mounted. As a bonus you can keep whatever else you like in there.

You are generalising a single instance as indicative of a wider trend, when this single instance may be a low-probability occurence. Even if this is indicative of a general trend, it does not indicate that high confidence counterbalances poor looks - rather, it indicates that a lack of confidence counterbalances good looks.

The comment you are replying to states: A good looking guy has to fuck up royally not to get laid. It's that simple. Women will just approach ... And your reply is... I have gotten approached by very attractive women many times and trust me it looks much easier than it is. I have lost count of the number of times I have still severely fucked it up. The tone of your reply indicates you are in disagreement and making a counterpoint, but the content of your reply only supports the original point.

Yeah, if someone actually needs to be told this, they aren't likely at a point in their intellectual development where they'll get much out of this sub.

There is a wealth of reasons to believe such a thing. I'd boil them down into a single statement by saying that, based on all evidence we have and all knowledge of the brain and body we have, everything about a person's identity and health is contained in their body and brain's physical structure and integrity, which, given detailed-enough technology, should be able to be repaired of any damage indefinitely (or, the equivalent information simulated digitally or replicated with more durable mater…

I imagine there aren't many. Based on searches on other subs for redpill stuff, it seems many scientific/skeptical/rationalist-oriented people get turned off to this sub by some of the pseudoscientific crap that bubbles up on here from time to time. Just comes down to filtering that out, as you have to do anywhere else... I've noticed also a number of posts here that imply there's a significant segment of readers/posters that are either or both on the religious or weirdly-deep-conservative side,…

Based on the last couple sentences I'm guessing you agree with this, but anyway-- you can choose a frame or viewpoint, and you will almost without fail find plenty of evidence to confirm that viewpoint This is always a problem you'll encounter if you choose the viewpoint first. Focus on the evidence and its implications only, ignoring which "viewpoints" go along with it. If every bit of evidence you see indicates truth behind every bit of "redpill" thought you see, that does not indicate a new c…

Many things do pale in comparison to thinking of your mortality. But when you consider taking that mortality for granted, please read this and consider their importance in comparison to the problem of solving mortality. There are things you can do, right now, to lower your chances of ever leaving this world. For a small price, you can have people ready to freeze you when you die -- there's no guarantee it'll help or work, but it's essentially an ambulance ride into the future, where, with luck, …

I don't follow this line of thought. If it drives away men who aren't getting with women anyway, what does that change? Women aren't going to miss them if they weren't sleeping with them to begin with.

Have't read the article yet but my first two reactions to your post-- Who the fuck complains about something as trivial slides being too pink? They deserve being cracked on "Unprofessional" doesn't really apply the same way in the tech industry, classic "professional" behavior is often perceived at best as an indication of lack of cultural awareness, at worst it suffocates innovation. See also http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/fog0000000033.html (Ctrl+F "unprofessional" a few times if you a…

It might be hard to get started with an actual workout plan or something, but that's not really needed to get started exercising. Just going out for an hour walk is something that can mesh well with depression -- it can give someone a chance to think about things or wander around places they have memories of -- they can ruminate over things the same as if they were sitting around at home, just with their legs moving and the scene changing. If it's cloudy out or really late/early it's a good way …

You're conflating ideas that are unrelated. Atheism and family values are in the sphere of social thought / social politics; Marxism is economic theory. I'd argue that the mindset which causes a person to support Marxism is far more conducive to supporting religious ideas than atheism, as they're more likely to focus on group benefit over the individual. A mindset that leads someone to support libertarian views is probably the most likely to lead to atheism as well, but those people tend to reje…

It is converted into cash. By Reddit. That's pretty much all it's good for.

I did talk to an imam/sheik but it was useless because he told me I was being unrealistic and that a guy has needs so it's understandable that they would be clearly defined in the wedding contract. "The advice I already received was useless because it isn't what I wanted to hear; please tell me something different, Reddit."

The Non Sequitur Game approach always strikes me as dubious. Won't most girls just see straight through it? Especially if you go on to totally fake a story to explain it instead of just not explaining it at all?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
