Because this kind of behaviour (lookism, but also a lot of other social dynamics) is so deeply instinctive and evolutionary, we automatically see it as “right” or at least “normal”. We humans tend to treat anything that feels natural and automatic as morally okay – even when we rationally know it’s not. That’s why it’s so hard for many people to openly talk about lookism.
