No, I don’t believe a woman’s bodily autonomy should be dependent on any way on whether the father of the fetus consents or not. However, I do think the father should have the right to legally deny any responsibility for the child within the same time period during which the mother has the ability to get an abortion, so that the mother can decide based on the father’s choice whether she wants to keep the child or not.

I’m also gay and hate the idea that other men feel that I have some kind of obligation to protect specifically women if my country feels it needs to implement the draft. The idea that women somehow magically deserve to be protected by men is ridiculous, especially when modern war is much less about physical strength than it used to be. I am just glad I live in the US where we don’t have active conscription, for now at least. But if my country did bring back the draft, or if I lived in one of the…

That’s essentially true in the US as well, though it would take an act of Congress to restart active conscription. And now in the US young men are automatically registered for the draft without their consent.

Homophobia is evil, full stop. I don’t care how many other progressive positions someone holds if they deny my humanity and dignity. Maybe it doesn’t matter to you but it’s a life or death issue to me and other gay people. Who are you to tell me that my emotional reaction to having my fundamental humanity denied is invalid? They did not, they just avoided the question. It doesn’t matter if someone shares some values with me if they see my innate sexual orientation as wrong or sinful. I’m merely pointing out that not everyone agrees with you, nor should they have to. If you want to volunteer to join your country’s military, you should be free to. By the same token, anyone who doesn’t want to serve in the military should be free not to. Human freedom should be inviolable.

The United States has not needed to be defended since the War of 1812. There is not a single country on earth that poses a credible threat to us. Any US conscription would be to fight a war of aggression in another hemisphere that has nothing to do with the American people and everything to do with making money and serving the goals of foreign groups.
