I'm only talking about what should be. And mothers should not be able to legally force donors to pay for their child. That too is wrong. Your over-emphasis on privacy to the point of ignoring basic humanity is just not the way I think. For me, privacy has a shorter limit than you believe. I didn't say that releasing info of people who were guaranteed privacy is right either. Honestly conflicted about that. But they shouldn't be compelled to pay anything.

Yeah but rights conflict sometimes and that's when you prioritize. I just think right to privacy doesn't supersede right to know who your parents are. Also, I was using the word "right" in a more colloquial sense. As in "children really deserve to know who their parents are". I didn't mean it's a legal or constitutional right. More of a moral thing.

Those require investigative work that costs the state time and money. Also requires people to do things against their will. Releasing records on file don't cost much at all and men can consent before donating sperm.

Giving children up for adoption is a practical need in society. It can spare children from poverty, abuse, neglect, etc. Artificially inseminating is an unnecessary desire. It only creates greater problems.

I only mentioned Catholicism because I was accused of being an SJW. That is NOT where my passion of protecting children comes from. I'm not an SJW and I have a ton of beef with what they espouse too. Everyone has the right to know who their dad is. You can't take that away from someone. If that means men don't want to donate then so be it. Ethics comes with sacrifice.

I'm not an SJW but I think everyone has the right to know who their fucking dad is. The sperm donor can request all the anonymity he wants but the kid never agreed to any of it. It sucks that guys donated without realizing they could later be contacted though. But that level of privacy should never have been offered.
