How many women have you actually asked about this? Have you done a survey? Let's see some data.

Have you actually asked any progressives what they think of this or are you just assuming so you can get some internet points? I would probably identify myself as a progressive and if anyone's going to push gender-neutral bathrooms then they should just all be gender-neutral. The whole point of having gender-neutral bathrooms is that nobody feels uncomfortable or is made uncomfortable by other people because of the bathroom that they chose. This is especially nice for trans folks so they can use…

You don't think a man has ever falsely accused a women of sexual harassment?
/r/MensRights13/06/19 11:08 AM

What the fuck You know why it's wrong to say that? Because it should just be assumed that nobody is thinking about raping her in the first place So to make, what I hope is a joke about it, is pretty fucked up.

Defending a serial rapist? Wow

The fact that you're trying to equate those two is insane. That's like telling me Ted Bundy is the same as some rapper who "admitted" to killing someone in a song.

There's also nothing wrong with having awesome characters for little girls to look up to. Women Woman and Captain Marvel are both badass, and I'm excited to see all the costumes this year for conventions and Halloween.

I never liked Steve Harvey after he says an entire group of people were immoral just because they aren't religious. He's just an asshole with a tv show.

I think it's possible that many far right subs specifically try to align themselves with MRAs because it's easy recruitment. Get young men to blame their problems on women, bombard them with supporting (but ofc never misleading) articles to reaffirm their confirmation bias, and viola! It's also exactly what far right propaganda men like Steve Bannon who runs/ran breitbart admitted to in order to push them to vote Trump. This sub has a fair amount of them too.

And a lot of girl scouts were and are unhappy about that too. Kids sometimes realize when they're being used to sell stuff. I remember all the bullshit fundraising stuff in middle and high school. Those companies were making a profit off the labor of minors, masquerading as helping schools. The fact that the schools needed the help in the first place is sad.

An unconfirmed story of something bad one time vs 50 times are not equal in the slightest. Also if you think comedians tell true stories you're naive. Jokes are crafted, embellished, modified, or occasionally actually true.

/r/MensRights23/03/19 03:47 AM

This isn't about men's rights. This is about hating women. Would a women's rights sub posting a story like this but with the man / woman switched actually be about women's rights? No, it would be about a particularly evil man who doesn't represent all men and shouldn't be used as propaganda, especially since he got life in prison for murdering someone.

Yeah, and neither did Brie. Just because you're not the target demographic doesn't mean you can't enjoy it, and Larson never said otherwise. It seems only the men here are offended by what she said.

You and I just disagree on equality, because men and women have different bodies and full equality is impossible. We can get close, but men can't have babies. Men can't get pregnant. That right there prevents equality fully, and if one person has more risks, has more responsibilities, that person should get more say in what happens. I think men should be able to opt out of having kids if the woman wants to keep it and it's early in pregnancy, but this is the kind of thing people need to talk abo…

It is us vs them, but I was originally referring to us as men and them as women in which case it's not us vs them. It's the religious fanatics vs people who use science and data driven approaches to do exactly what anti-abortion people say they want: decrease abortions. For instance, planned parenthood has done more to prevent abortions in the first place than the anti-abortionists. Obviously there are edge cases where some crazy woman got pregnant against her lover's wishes, and he should not b…

The woman gets the right because it's in her body. I don't know a simpler way to put it. The woman is the one physically at risk has to alter her diet and activities and is the one in pain and dealing with crazy hormones. The pregnant person is the one who has very real physical risk leading up to labor, during and after labor and the pain and body changes from labor. Then, if the father is not or cannot be around, she's the one stuck with a baby human if she didn't want one. With the exception …

You know most abortions are just given by pill less than a few weeks after conception? And what if your wife is on the pill? Or you used a condom and it broke? Hell, 100% unprotected casual sex isn't smart but you want to sentence someone to being an unwanted child for life because you want to punish someone for a bad decision? That's fucked up. People are going to have sex. That's why states where there's no sex education have higher STD, pregnancy, and poverty rates. Reducing the amount of unw…

For my last point, what if two 17 year olds in Mississippi have sex, can't get plan B, and don't have the means to travel (or parents won't let them) to Jackson where the only abortion clinic in the state is located? That's a situation in which neither the potential mother or father want a baby but cannot and it's why access to sex education, birth control, and abortion all need to be widely available and legal. That's a problem both men and women face together. The reason many women don't want …

It's not us vs them. Women are not the enemy. It's done vs the problem. What if the woman doesn't want a kid and the man doesn't either, but they can't get an abortion? Leaving a child up to the foster system is a terrible fate and we should strive to only wanted babies into this world.

To anyone reading this and is unsure, the person I'm replying to is very anti science and global warming is widely accepted by the science community. Exxon knew about it since the 80s, and its been contemplated for over 100 years. We have loads of evidence which concludes global temperatures have increased, drastically in the past few years, and will only continue to increase globally. Extreme weather is becoming the norm and it's only getting worse.

Abortion is de facto illegal in many US states, mostly in the south. How many places provide abortion services in Mississippi? If you guessed 1, then you're correct. If you're poor or don't have access to transportation to get to Jackson, or you don't know about it because of lack of information, or you get tricked into going to fake religious "wellness centers" that act like they can help you but only try to guilt you out of an abortion (maybe it was only 2 days you had sex and you just want Pl…

/r/MensRights12/03/19 06:24 AM

Because the pregnant person carries all the risks associated with being pregnant, and can't just disappear like the make theoretically could if they're unhappy with contributing. Men should be able to opt out of child support but that's also impossible if there's still a large movement that restricts female bodily autonomy in the first place.
/r/MensRights12/03/19 06:22 AM

It's not a baby until it's born, it's a parasite that takes strength and money to care for and drastically affects the women's body and brain until, and after birth. Not to mention that dying in childbirth or during pregnancy still happens so forcing someone to carry to term is increasing their chance of injury or death. If there was zero risk you might have a valid argument, but it's not.

They don't, at least not in western society, but many men end up making decisions about women's bodies, which is why it is part of the tweet. Men should have priority when it comes to making decisions about their bodies, just as women should about theirs. The Gillette ad was about how certain typically male behaviors are sometimes tolerated or encouraged and they need to stop. Catcalling, letting boys fight (not "roughing around" but like real punching or bullying), not letting men express emotions, etc. They're all examples of toxic masculinity. Sometimes the victims are other men, sometimes they're women. The Gillette ad said "Hey. We need to do better. You need to stop this shit when you see it in your life". They use it because any chance to portray a women on social media negatively as the beliefs of all women is snatched up. There's no nuance, mo sarcasm on the other side, yet they'll defend most things someone they agree with says. Propaganda is hard to fight when they fight in bad faith. If Cher was actually for mandatory circumcision, then I'd be pissed too, but it's clearly sarcasm.

Brie Larson said that she didn't really care what 40 year old white man thought about A Wrinkle in Time, because that movie wasn't made for them. That's an interesting point, but it's different, and here's why: The ad showed actual clips of men speaking out when other men did things they shouldn't. If an ad showed popular black voices talking about what's acceptable and what's not, and to cut out certain behaviors, I think that would be fine. Imagine if they got Donald Glover, Barack Obama, Don Lemon, Kanye West, Oprah, Regina Hall, Zoe Saldana, or Taraji Henson in there talking about a few things that plague black American culture, or in…

Someone convince me that people outraged by this aren't just as bad as twitter feminazis. Because it sounds like a big group of snowflakes to me. Are men so insecure we can't separate bad behavior, and making excuses for it like saying "boys will be boys"? I don't care about Gillette, or P&G. I just hate people being hypocritical. If a feminist twitter account posts something that we disagree with, suddenly it seems that ALL feminists must think that way. Gillette makes an ad talking about the t…

Because it's not, but MRA groups also have an overlap or have been infiltrated by far right groups pushing propaganda. Similar stuff happened in 2016, I'm getting the same vibe as all the election propaganda. They have a lot of downvotes to give too, to try and silence comments or posts that disagree with their narrative. Nothing in this commercial is against men, and men are victims as well.

What exactly is wrong with this? They're not saying "haha men are stupid, #toxicmasculinity". Using "boys will be boys" as an excuse for shitty behavior and then not doing anything about it is a problem. What Terry Crews said is important too. I don't see what the fuss is about here.

I look at it now. The problem is I have no baseline to compare it to. I wish my parents didn't do it but I forgive them for doing it. I must have been 13 or 14 before I even knew that I was any different than other people. My dad was cut too which is probably why they did it for me. I'm not gonna get into my sex life but I don't think I have any problems. Nothing major at least. Still, comparing it to rape is a terrible argument.

The STD connection likely has far more to do with sex education, healthcare, and more than circumcision. The USA also doesn't have universal healthcare like most countries. We go to the doctor when we're sick, only people with no/low co-pays or have money just go for check ups, and sex education in specific parts of the country (read: conservative states) are pretty bad. "Don't have sex" is literally the education for some unlucky people.

Hold on a sec. Do you think that heterosexual people can't get or transfer HIV? Also, USA population is about 325M, and there are over a million of them with HIV. https://www.hiv.gov/hiv-basics/overview/data-and-trends/statistics One argument for circumcision is that is reduces the likelihood of men getting STDs.

It used to be for religious reasons, but not only any more. How many people die from AIDS every year? If it's 0, then, sure, it's not needed at all. It also varies country to country. Maybe in Germany, it's not a problem. Maybe in the USA it's not too bad. Maybe in parts of Africa it's a huge problem.

HIV is almost completely treatable, Not for free, and if you don't have access to that treatment, that doesn't matter. and isnt a risk unless you IV drugs or have anal sex with men. That's not correct. To remove the most sensitive part of the penis because of that tiny risk is asinine. It's not just about AIDS. Also circumcision started way way before AIDs was a thing, it isnt done for prevention that's ridiculous. It's not just about AIDS. If it were for 100% religious reasons, I would be 100% …

Is that a serious question? You think it's ok to rape people while they're unconscious? Oh, I see. Because I made the point where you won't remember as a kid. It's different. Someone who is raped while knocked out will wake up and then realize they were raped. You don't feel that as a baby. You will never remember the procedure. When you're 50, you might still remember how you felt when you woke up after being raped.

Bad corporatism infected by gender politics, or any other bad marketing is destructive at all levels. There are plenty of other games for people to buy. I'm saying when there is nobody to identify fully with, that's bad. What problem are you solving? The vast majority of people these days have 0-2 children. I'm not in charge of legislation nor do I think that is a problem that really needs to be addressed but if it was up to me, I'd say there is a minimum number of hours worked each year in order to qualify for paid maternity or paternity leave. This would also apply to the year before you take the leave. So if you take a full year off, you wouldn't qualify for paid leave until you work X hours again in a year.

you have at minimum chosen a 9 month process that cannot be replicated by a father. Agreed. If I suggested that it be 50-50 then I didn't mean to say that. Women need some time to recover after giving birth, and infants need breast milk to properly mature. I think that in most cases, women should be the ones to stay home if given an option, though in some cases that's not true (specifically where the woman in a male/female relationship makes significantly more than the man, then it's better fina…

Thanks for linking the article. Some of this is because of maternity leave in the USA, which is the worst of every western country on the planet. Where is here? Because that's not required where I live. No paid maternity leave is required in the USA, and only 3 months unpaid. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maternity_leave_in_the_United_States Paternity leave is even worse. Men don't get jack squat in this regard, which is also very bad for a family. They likely took a year off to take care of their child. And seemed to penalized for it upon re-entering the workforce . . . unless I'm missing something. This is not a pay gap problem, this is a problem where companies are not required to pay women maternity leave, or other issues related to it. If you've been with a company for 5 years, and you have a child, there are certain protections you should be entitled to. This affects millions of men every year as well, since the money their wife isn'…

You're not looking at the reasons why a woman may decide to take a year off, and how that affects you. You're just reacting online without thinking. What if you have a kid? And your wife stops working to take care of said kid? You're working, she's at home making sure the kid lives. Childcare is expensive, so many times it's not worth paying for unless you make a lot any way, and kids need parents in early childhood. Because there are enough applicants who scored above 76% to fill all the spots. (Maybe 180 men and 20 women meet the 76%) but now they are guaranteeing that all 30 women who applied get in. The question should be, “Why aren’t more females applying?” It's not THE factor, but one of those factors is "Because they're aren't many women in the industry". So jobs that are viewed as "for men" or "for women" mean fewer people want to pursue a job in that field. It's a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. This is one way to help change that a bit. You mean one's only with stalls? I like urinals, they're quick and easy, but I can use a stall and it doesn't bother me. There aren't any specific bathroom equipment that women can use and men can't, so I don't really care if they get rid of ones that men can use and women can't. It barely affects me, but it speeds bathroom use up for everyone else.

It's also possible there were complaints the first time, then they realized that to fix it, the easiest way was to make the other bathroom gender neutral the first time. All bathrooms should be gender neutral imo. I don't give a fuck who uses a stall, and it's not like I want men or women looking over my shoulder while I'm taking a piss. Honestly, it just makes it all more efficient. If the men's bathroom is at capacity, we should be able to use the women's. It's just more stalls any way. I think the main difference is that the activities Boy Scouts of America usually do are more fun and traditionally scout-like than girl scouts, which seems to orbit around selling cookies first, and everything else second. So girls want to be able to do those activities, but couldn't under the Girl Scouts organization. So some of them move to the BSA, which now just keeps the "boy" part because that's traditionally who it was for, but now everyone gets to do what they want. Who cares if there ar…

That hypothetical person would, by the very nature of such a law, be less qualified for the position than other candidates. Why do you assume they're less qualified? It's possible they just pick someone randomly, or the board actually wants good people on it, had a bias before where they had 14 board seats but somehow they were all men, and now they are forced to even interview a woman for the position. Listen, I'm on the fence here. Idk what's best, and I have no idea how the board of directors…

What I was suggesting was that they make it so no board can have 100% of the same gender on it, with a few notable exceptions: New companies (If I start 2dollar shave club, and we're all men, I don't want to be forced to put a woman on our board when we don't have any female employees yet, and it's just me and 5 friends). Once we hit a certain revenue, or employee benchmark then we should. And I'm against 100% female boards, I don't think that would be any better than 100% male boards, but the p…

It is sexist, I am not disagreeing. But I am also saying that it is true. Women (on the left mainly), have a herd mentality - especially on this movement. Men do as well, but it is far less to the extent of women. There are millions of women in this country who band together for protests (Women’s March), Kavanaugh protests, etc. Where are the Men’s marches?? The women's march is mostly to protest sexism vs women, not being treatly like sexual objects, and abortion rights. Men have it far worse i…

MeToo has several simple premises and goals: • Make everyone believe America is a country that supports a “rape culture” • Promote the idea that “women never lie about sexual abuse”; so they must always be believed • Promote the concept that “women are always the victims” You should actually ask some women you know if that's what they think, because I don't think that's what most of them think.

It's probably because men commit the vast majority of violent crimes. The headline is incredibly misleading, we need to know the facts of each case. Otherwise people will assume that 88/89 people executed were men because of discrimination, and not the fact that women simply don't commit certain crimes at the same rate as men. The REALLY constructive thing to ask is how we reduce that rate, and stop people from 1) getting killed by people, and 2) having society feel forced to kill people who kil…

We also don't know the age difference. If she's 19 and he's 17, that's legal in many places. Wouldn't have a problem with it if it was reversed either. I don't think a 2 year age difference is a problem, but we have to draw the line somewhere. For instance, in Florida, a 16 year old can have sex with anyone up to 23 (or maybe it's 22). All feminist say women are oppressed and men are the oppressors That's not true either. Are you saying that is not a lie? Yeah, it is a lie, my problem is that you just generalized 100% of feminists as thinking the same thing. That's just wrong.

I know that targeted harassment is a pretty easy-ban for Twitter. If he mentioned a name or incited some brigading then it's very possible that's the reason for him getting banned. Unless you're POTUS

women's prisoner rights. That's right, about how horrible jails are for women and specifically women. Not what's wrong with the jail system... what's wrong with the jail system for women. What's wrong with that? She was in women's prison. She has no experience in a men's prison. So she talks about what she knows about. Sounds just fine to me. Are there any men that advocate for better male prison rights or treatment? Are they "self-serving pieces of shit" because they advocate for male prisoners…

What I mean by that, is that specific groups may be trying to use this specific story to somehow discredit the entire thing. I'm a rational person. I can see that perhaps the D.C. Women's March group didn't vet all of their speakers properly. But I've already expressed my opinions. You just seem hateful.

Slapping the word 'woman' on something doesn't make it immune to criticism. I don't remember saying anything of the sort. And is basically arguing that women deserve better treatment than men. Where does she say that?

I'm not white knighting anyone. And I don't know if she's a sociopath. It's also possible she was a sociopath, but 27 years in prison changed that. My gut says that she's misleading people and downplaying her past, but she's also said that she didn't participate in the torture, and that she seemed a victim too. How convenient . . . but I can't verify otherwise either. If Donna Hylton was the only person arrested and charged for the kidnapping, torture, and murder of Thomas Vigliarolo, then I wou…

According to her she didn't participate in the torture. I can't verify, but you act like she solely was responsible for the crimes of everyone involved. According to the source that someone else just posted here (and it's 100% plausible she is lying, but also plausible she is not), she was just the driver, and it was under duress. You can't compare it to driving drunk. That is the fault of the driver being drunk, and that's their decision. This is not as clear cut. Edit: When asked why she thoug…

Well, I'm not going to blindly believe her story, but I also have no evidence to discredit her version, or to credit another. If that's what she spent 27 years in prison for, I genuinely feel bad for her. If she participated directly in the torture or could have prevented it in any way, I don't. I don't think anyone outside of her, possibly the judge/jury for her trial, the victim, and the others charged will ever know the truth. Thanks for posting that.

Serve your time you are now fit for society. She is not She served 27 years, so by your own statement just now she is fit for society. She is still unremorseful about it Idk. Is she? What makes you think she is or isn't? And yes this should discredit the woman's March; why would you want a woman who tortures and kills men to be your activist. You make it seems like she was the only person to speak. I don't know enough about her, and I don't think you do to be able to make that decision. Do you k…

Alright. A bit of research because I think this story needs it. http://www.nytimes.com/1985/04/08/nyregion/the-city-7-held-in-slaying-of-man-in-trunk.html Let me start off by saying that what Donna Hylton here participated is absolutely terrible. I cringed when I read about the torture of their victim, Thomas Vigliarolo. Let's look at some facts as well: 1) 7 people were arrested and charged for the crime. I do not know how exactly Hylton was involved. Anyone involved has blood on their hands, b…

I don't think this is considered normal. Just because they exist doesn't mean it's normal in society, I think most people (not even most reasonable people) would say this is crazy. Ofc, that doesn't stop that fact that these people do exist . . .

You're assuming all women have knowledge and access to whatever BC they want. There are plenty of people who live in rural areas or who were brought up that God hates condoms or some other sad bullshit and know what's out there or what's best for them. I'm not denying there are shitty women who would take advantage of the situation but most women are victims as much as men

Ok my bad. I don't live in Texas so I'll about my knowledge of that locally is limited. I meant more nationwide, conservative Christians and the GOP politics who court them overwhelmingly try to shut them down, while dems fight to keep them open.

Do you forget the cases where men fucked up a women's life by getting her pregnant and running off? Like people have done for thousands of years? Both sexes can be shitty, just fyi. It's only recently that some of the crazy women have been able to get away with it

I think a lot of people on this sub forget that if roles were reversed there would still be shitty cases on men doing shitty things to women as well. This is a decent example of how.

I agree with all your arguments until the last paragraph. Generalizing all women like that is insulting to everyone. I'm on my anniversary weekend with my gf of 7 years and I'm 100% sure she's not crazy like a lot of people on this sub tend to view women. Your comment is a bit vague so I can't be too harsh but I'd avoid generalizing half the human population

Why would feminists try to stop that? It sounds like it would be in their interest to lower the rates of unwanted pregnancy, which this would probably do

It will also be very nice for women who don't take any sort of birth control, since they will have another way to avoid pregnancy if they don't want it

Just in case we forget, saying "Learns Women are more Privileged than Men " as if it's a fact is a bit silly, especially to put in a headline. That's what she believes, and that's probably what a lot of people here believe, but that's just an opinion. It's good to focus on what she learned, so we can analyze why she thinks that. It would be better if it said that was her opinion, as opposed to her discovering some sacred fact.

Unless it would've cost them too much or they didn't have space for it, I think having both a mens-only and women-only lounge would've been cool. I don't really feel the need for one personally, but I think it would be a cool place to hang out. Chill place for gals? Check. Chill place for guys? Check. Bummer they didn't create an all male lounge, but w/e.

Great video. I have to say the woman didn't seem as threatening as the man though, simply because she wasn't throwing him around with the same force that he threw her. Hers was more of an extended, lower-level abuse. Of course that's not acceptable either, and this video shows it well, but when he shoved her into the wall it seemed pretty powerful, she just kinda pushed him.

To be fair, in movies and tv shows sometimes women slap men and everyone just assumes it's cool. Usually the guy says something cat-cally or sexist right before but then it's "justified" with violence. So I can understand why some women might think hitting a man is accepted in society. Doesn't mean they should be off the hook. Rarely do they show serious domestic abuse in the same light though.
