Somehow men as individuals are responsible for men as a collective. I so hate this! It's wrong for any group. I still love her. I love any man or woman, as fellow humans. I get a fucking child like joy from holding the door for anyone. But I'm kind of over being forced under penalty to respect the individual's circumstances, operate under the repeated points of me being a threat me being privileged as a man, with absolutely zero regard for my individual circumstances as a person. I hear ya!

You should never be ashamed of your gender just because of a few bad apples, both men and women.

I never heard of the gamma bias or galbrush paradox before, but they are really thought-provoking! Thanks!

I thought I was the only one that noticed how common this is recently becoming! It’s weird because I’m regularly in a moderate-sized city, but I haven’t even seen so much as catcalling. I’m rarely out after dark though. I want people to feel safe and comfortable, but I don’t like automatically being the bad guy. It’s frustrating how there seems to be no answer for the gender war.

TheTinMen on Instagram had a good post about this today. There’s a lot more factors than just gender.

Kinda like how they say toxic masculinity makes men hide their emotions and vulnerabilities.

What’s really frustrating is being considered a dangerous enemy by default and thinking it’s my responsibility to fix other mens’ behavior regardless of where it happens or what power I have.

Same here! Its helps to realize everyone has their own background and worldview, and that a lot of times peoples' actions and prejudices have nothing to do with you.

I think libfems are acting out of fear and trauma, which is sad because I think men’s rights and libfems agree on a lot of things, and it’s frustrating how we’re unable to get over the us vs. them mentality. Radfems on the other hand seem like one-sided tradcons who want male chivalry without being feminine and agreeable.

Taking care of your mental health by not focusing on things you can't help doesn't make you an oppressor.

A big thing is realizing men and women aren’t monolithic groups, and there’s good and bad individuals in each. Victim mentality and thinking being needlessly mean to certain people is okay because you’re “punching up” is tearing us apart.

How afraid of men are you? Would you say you been hurt by men? What about other women in your circles? This is huge topic I see in women-centered subreddits.

Yeah, Tradcons believe that men are expendable and women should just stay in the kitchen.

Just ignore them. Arguing with them can't change their mind, and will just look stupid and get frustrated in the process.

It also seems like there are parts of patriarchy that most women, even feminists, want to keep such as men being being stoic providers. Feminism also seems to be unable to provide most men with both freedom to be themselves and a purpose in the world.

I haven’t been on here much, but from what I’ve seen the guys here are supportive of women on this subreddit when they reach out and what to help. Though there’s also a lot of frustrated people on mens rights and feminist subs, and maybe some incel types. I’d say ignore the haters as well as you can and enjoy interacting with the people who do appreciate and want to work with you.

Good article! Try not to beat yourself up over other peoples’ actions. You just try to be the best person you can be to yourself and others. Feminism and other social issue groups can get really vague and even hypocritical, so I focus on individuals.

Good to see women calling out other women on this kind of thing! I hate the idea of seeing each other as competing groups and “punching up” as everyone is an individual who has their own stuff going on, regardless of how much privilege they have. Everyone needs to work WITH each other.

You’d think having a lot of female friends would be a green flag because it shows you as a man see women as whole people worth having platonic relationships with, but I guess women like this just get jealous of other women in men’s lives.

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Psi%20Male&amp=true I get the label fatigue. It can seem like more identity politics. I wish people could just be able to be themselves.

Welcome! Autistic guy here, and I think a large part of it is that this sub brings up a lot of ways women are privileged over men in our current systems. That goes against typical feminist narrative, where men are the ones with all the privileges and women are always the victims.

Just to get it off my chest, getting overwhelmed with all the negativity out there that nothing seemingly can be done about. World issues, social issues, personal issues, fears about my own future, etc.

This! We need men’s liberation as well as women’s, without anyone being shamed for being masculine or feminine.

There's a lot of escapism (Video games, movies, etc.) with themes of violence, domination, good vs. evil, etc. Especially with boys and men in mind. We do stuff like you did vicariously.

Humans have no natural predators, and advances in agriculture, medicine, etc. are getting rid of other natural population limits. It's like humans are our own natural predator, and instincts which worked in the past are now to keep our population in check.

It probably has to do with the way women are usually perceived as being more “helpless” than men.

Reminds me of the Slenderman stabbing that two young girls did on another girl a while back. It seems when girls get violent, it’s not about relationships or social isolation like it is with boys, it’s just plain crazy!

This hits the nail on the head for me. I got messed with a lot when I was younger and was too chicken to stand up to anyone. Recently I've been thinking everyone hates me and wants to hurt me, and lashing out at people in an attempt to prove my toughness.

I've had a lot on my mind recently, thanks for this perspective. Something that stood out here is you talking about vacations, and that got me starting on thinking about why I have a different mindset somewhere I'm on vacation, than my everyday life.
