I think I can see an issue with an individual waiting for a social collapse to prove a pointless argument. What are you expecting exactly?

Oh yeah I forgot that part! Believing is really important too! Why would I do something if I don't actually belive its going to work or make a difference! Creativity is so complex. Creating a goal is hard. But why not simply follow a more general goal? A carreer that fulfills you is something to grasp on. A hobby can do the same thing. My last year was the worst so far. I lost someone I loved, I threw away my dreams, I became depressed and rationnalised everything to reinforce the belief that no…

It might be it hahahaha thanks alot! I'll keep thinking about your comment because there are some nuances in it I did not see. Have a great day!

I've rapidly read your comment because I am about to go to college, I am sorry about that. If I make an interpretation error tell me and I'll try to think about it. If possible I'll write something later in the day that will be more accurate. I think the model where you're happy and therefore reduce in some ways the suffering of the world is one way to a meaningful life. I mean, you may not aimed at it, but you still have it, and when someone looks at you and say: how did you get there? you migh…

I think that is what has undermined and made a lot of people dissapointed in life, even myself. I went for happiness when actually it is'nt something you can build anything on. I read somewhere, I don't know if its in the other comments, but an example was: A lot of people say they want to retire on the beach drinking margarita and there, when work and pressure and stress is not present anymore, they will be happy. WRONG. How can you stay for X years on the beach sipping margaritas. You'll think…

Oh thats a good one! If I interprete it right, having a purpose is a good thing as long as ita your own purpose and not the purpose of someone else that you're participating or copying?

Well I am interrested in electronics! I want to work on processors. I think that if I can build faster chips, it could be used to discover and calculate more conplexe things and therefore help making algorithms that could solve problems that are now unsolvable, and these solutions could help in so many various ways!

You're right. Its exactly the same situation as the sun exploding, just a lot more early. But there is still the present! I can work on removing suffering in the now around me, in my familly, my friends, my coworker, my community. I can still do something to lift people up in one way or another. Otherwise, why would I help a granny cross the street if the world will end, why would I do anything if the world could end tomorrow?

Well someone could define happiness as contentment. Or it could be that it is the high serotonin level in your brain. I feel happy when I play music. I feel happy when I have achived something hard. I feel happy when I express love and feel loved by my peers.

You're right about that! Meaning is something subjective to everyone, and utlimitely, when the sun explodes and everything turns to ash, nothing will matter. But while I live my one and only life on this earth, if you assume that resurection is'nt an option, I would rather do something that will lift humanity upwards than to live a selfish "happy" life. I will not live, but mu children, and their generation and the generation after will be impacted positively by what I did, as little as it can b…

Why is there no meaning? Edit: why do YOU think there is no meaning?

Thats exactly what inspired this post! I just finished the chapter about meaningful vs expedient actions. It blew me away. I stopped looking for pleasure and happiness and validation and instead started to change my way of seeing life. I don't want to waste a damn hour on video games if that hour could be spent reading something where I could learn and evenually use this knowledge to forge my way into the history of humanity. I stopped being pessimistic about the future and try to actually belie…

I think one would argue that to live a meaningful life, it would have to be based on something true. Not a lot of things a truthfully true. Some would say that suffering is the truest thing on earth: everybody suffers from something at one point in their life. Some people suffers more than others. I think that if I die leaving this world with less suffering, I would think that the world would have not been a little better had I not been there to fix things in my own way. It can take the form of …

Well I think that, lets take the example of sex, immediate pleasure activity are important too! They offer diverse experience and give pleasure in ways that are not necessary meaningful, and it is a big part of what makes someone happy! Because you experience something and you can even learn from it, and you build memories of moments shared with others anf alone where your mind is set free of doing whatever it wants, and thats a big part of a meaningful life too. But I think one can'tbe happy if…

Thank you! By far the best comment here. I had the chance to get No more Mr. Nice guy for free as an audible book and it honestly changed my view of the world. I saw many psychological paterns I had, but I still got some work to do, mentally and physicaly.

Oh no I meant I should calm down with all this "I am afraid what the future has for me" thing. I should just enjoy what I have and experience as much as I can during this so thin slice of time.

I don't know where I saw that, I think it was a TED talk or something like that, but happiness is'nt a goal. To be happy, well this definition works for me, you must work and make a difference in this world so that everyday when you go to sleep you know the world is a better place because of you and every morning you have a reason to wake up. It can be anything! Because everyone has a role in this world, from the janitor that cleans our school so that teachers can teach and students can learn, t…

As I was in the bus sooner today, coming back from gym, I asked myself why I don't want to put effort into a relationship, even tho I have a lot of affection and care to give to people. I really like women! Some are awesome! Incredible persons! And I realised that its because I don't trust anyone except my family. Even part of my family managed to betray me at some point. At this point, if I can even rely on the person that brought me into this world, how the fuck am I suppose to trust the perso…

I had a grand father that, I think, saw a lot of potential in me. He was smart and I was told at a young age that I was apparently smart too by many people, so I saw him as the person that I wanted to be. He showed me art since he was a painter, I was helping him crafting things and everytime I was questionning life or nature, he was there and would take the time to explain it to me in various ways so I could really grasp what was going on. Not because it was his job, but because he wanted me to…

I have been working in a retail shop with men and another one with women. The difference in attitude is SOOOOO different!!! Guys, they are constantly bitching about AAAALL the other girls around them OR talking about how this guy or this guy or whatever fuck things they are trying to do with them. With man? God I could joke about puss* and 2 seconds later have a conversation about space travel and economy. Not anymore, not with girls.

Well I actually thought about adopting a dog someday, with the consequence that one day I would be with him as he was reaching the end of his little life. Dogs are great companions, but anyone must understand that a dog will not be by your side for the rest of the ride, but only for a couple of years. It'll be tragic and I will certainly be in mourning but that is part of the ride if you want to do it with a dog, and I can accept that. Once you accept that its part of the journey and that you're…

The only reason I am still on this sub is because you guys accept the idea that nothing is perfect, including the MGTOW philosophy, and that just proves that content on here is good most of the time.

I think you gave me a great picture of what MGTOW is. I am right now reading the audio book about No more Mr.Nice Guy and thats exactly what he's talking about. I just need to listen to myself and I'll know what I want and what to do.

Well my longest relationship was about a year. The girl loved me and I eventually broke up with her. I am pretty sure she respected, cared and loved me this much because in return I was'nt as much in love as she was and was confident she would'nt let me go. I guess that since she felt she was expandable, she did everything she could to keep me, but in the end I dumped her and it broke her heart. I still talk to her time to time and we get along very well. She has a boyfriend and live with him an…

Ok guys I just remembered a movie I saw when I was young that 100% described what I think I would be a great alternative. Its Intolerable Cruelty with George Clooney. The guy is basicly a lawyer that has writen a completly foolproof prenup contract that basicly states that in the eventuality of a divorce, each person will go its own way without having to provide or give anything to the other person. If you guys saw it and would comment about it that would be appreciated!

I guess I should just accept that I was born in a certain period of time and that things are fucked up right now and that if my dad wants grand children he will have to pray for my brother to have some.

Your definition of purple pill is just so accurate. I saw myself there (might be a not so good thing). I am currently reading about all this red pill thing, and even If data is data, my gut says otherwise.
