In the article, it says that more states are changing laws so that men, who want to be in their children's lives, are automatically given equal custody unless there are extenuating circumstances such as abuse. The laws can be changed for equality for men without throwing women, who already in poverty - into even more dire straits... Anyone else notice that?The good news is that roughly 90% of custody cases are worked out by the parents - without the courts. In my state, - and more states around the country are headed that way - custody is given 50/50 when it does go to court. As for equal partners - often the problem is that both parents work full time, though the woman more often than not earns less sometimes a lot less - and the kids need support.
