Again I would just like to point out that all this feminist theory that you are critiquing and drawing conclusions about is not at all my perspective or how I think a good percentage of the general public think about it. There is nothing wrong with traditional gender roles I believe everyone should be free to live however they want (with caveats of course), its the idea that women should be a certain way (which seems pretty common) that is sexist and I think a negative thing for women and societ…

I do like the term whether or not it fits from a strick feminist theory perspective but I don't really understand how it is female chauvinism. I think it is a useful way of expressing your support for women to not be pigeon holed by their gender. I believe it's a red flag for ideas of traditional gender roles and sexism if someone says they are opposed to feminism. What do you think would be a good way to express this attitude towards women without using the word feminism? I'm more than happy to…

Okay. But I think most people believe feminism is as simple as wanting freedom and equality for women.

I don't want to impose anything on anyone I'm just expressing my point of view about feminism.

Oh god, I feel like I've walked in to a Jordan Peterson interview. I'm sure you understand about nuance.

What do you mean "if true, so what?". I'm just pointing out that being a feminist doesn't necessitate buying in to these ideas you are rallying against.

Don't get me wrong I believe we have made amazing progress in terms of women's legal rights as a society and I don't think women are oppressed as a general rule. I do however think many people in society hold sexist and antiquated views around gender roles etc. I'm a feminist in the sense that I believe women should be free to live whatever way they want without restriction or judgement based on their gender. It's clear to me first hand that we have a long way to go in this regard. My partner ha…

What term would you prefer then? Women's rights movement?

I consider myself a feminist from a freedom and equality stand point. This irrational freak out about feminism is not helpful for the men's rights movement.

I would just say that being a feminist today doesn't imply you hold these views that define "3rd wave" feminism. To me being a feminist simply means freedom and equality for women. I don't like this idea that feminism equals anti men. It would be nice to see you support both sides rather than going from one extreme to the other.

Jeez, are you okay? I'm obviously talking about our modern world where ridged gender roles are mostly a thing of the past. No need to get all sensitive about your fore fathers. If couples are in a situation where only one has to work and they agree about defined roles then all power to them. That's not a reality for most families and not what my comment was about.

I've never heard of people hating "manspreading". Just another thing that's exaggerated to justify a men's rights subreddit?.. no I'm just kidding male oppression is a serous issue.

Babysitting is reserved for the incompetent fathers who see child care as primarily the mothers role.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
