Where do you think violence starts? Domestic violence has been proven to have links to family upbringing whereby women are demeaned, ridiculed and dehumanised. But it's easy to discredit facts with flippant comments like that. You don't think society can be improved, do you want your kids to be treated this way? My freedoms are curtailed. As a women I don't have the same freedom as men. Until we get to the core of why sexual violence occurs we paper over the cracks. There is an increasing lack of respect of women, and it perpetuates a belief (in some men) that women exist for their own gratification. Some cultures have high/low rates of sexual violence. Low rates will be linked to respecting women and the reverse. Women protecting themselves does nothing to stop misogyny, it's a temporary band-aid. I looked at a Facebook ad yday and while scrolling through the comments came across a misogynist comment about the woman in the ad. And loads of men liked it! When are real decent men going to turn against these disgusting representations of your gender #meatheads.
