Yeah i find the whole kerfuffle around this weird since it was proven, in court, to be bullshit. So suddenly the justice system is perfect and should be trusted without a doubt? This case is extremely shady. The video shows only the sex with two of the guys and the actions of police are highly questionable. There is a lot of other evidence pointing to her innocence, the Time article sums it up well.

There's a longer video in r/publicfreakout. They guy later attacks some random woman passing by, who's just trying to check on the girl lying on the ground. It's only 1 or 2 compartments in the entire train, not the whole carriadge. I understand the motives behind this idea, but it doesn't make any sense. There are several problems with it: She can always say she withdrew the consent after the video was filmed. "he forced me to film this" And if I'm gonna be honest, if I were a woman and some dude I just hooked up with asked me to film a consent video, I'd nope out fast because I'd be worried he's planning to rape me and is trying to cover his bases.

Also it's not the victim's job to collect evidence, that's on police. I agree that if you make accusations in media, you should have something to support your statement, but reporting a rape to police is something different.

I'm subscribed to this sub because I'm a supporter of the idea of Mens' rights movement. Mens' problems are often not taken seriously enough and it's good thing to be advocating for it. But that doesn't mean I'm going to blindly embrace every single post that appears in this sub. If you want to call me SJW just because I don't automatically take side with you against women, whatever.

I don't get this sub sometimes. It's a fact that false accusations exist, but it's also a fact that real rape victims are often disbelieved and treated like shit by cops. By automatically assuming she's lying you are doing the same thing we fight against.

Yep, as you said, it doesn't apply only to rape victims. Anyone who undergoes traumatic experience might suffer from innacurate and changing memories and be at risk of providing inconsistent statements. Also traumatized and emotionally vulnerable people are more susceptible to psychological pressure, rape victims often recant their testimony under pressure from disbelieving cops or families. Also the way it's worded seems to implicate that the co-worker in question wasn't the one accused but he got it himself from somewhere else, so god knows what's the origin of this video. I once read an article from a detective who spend most of his career investigating sex crimes, that the proper strategy when investigating a rape claim isn't "believe", but rather "listen". Listen to what the alleged victim says, then do your investigation, collect evidence and arrive to appropriate conclusion. Don't blindly believe, but also don't show any hostility or mistrust towards the victim. Just be there, listen and then do your investigation. Just something I found interesting. Too bad …

To be fair, it really sounds like bullshit. I have no idea what happened in this specific case, but that's not ridiculous at all. In fact this one of the most common causes of false confessions - when an interogator keeps pressuring the suspect and they feel confessing is the only way out.
