I thought of this too. We might actually see a branching of the human species. With class mobility, those that don't belong in the lower class migrate up and those in the upper class eventually (maybe a generation later) fall. I can see a point when the two are genetically different and don't breed. I would not like to live in that time, I can imagine a lot of political turmoil.

How is my point like your simile? As a general comment people need start working explaining how it relates. This is my issue. We have developed the ability to look far into the future and past and other animals can't. It has to do with our technology and our physiology. The issue is people are still acting upon their genes when it no longer applies. They look at the short term (consider it their general lifespan) and when they consider the long term it is really just about helping their kids. So…

Love your response. I will joke about things men do, even as a male. I find it funny, and I joke about things women do as well. Often times these are things that annoy us or are "stereotypical." The intent behind it is what counts and since intent is so hard to prove with a joke, I say let it be. We should never limit out speech in a way that limits our jokes. Most of the jokes are funny because we know they are absurd. I say if men are making to many sexual jokes at the office, the women should…

I have said "women like sex just as much as men" an any women I have been around has agreed. What do you think about this? Are men more open and women more restrained in regard to how they express their want? What are your opinions on this and do you agree with the statement? It seems to be of the changing moral zeitgeist that talking or joking about sex is becoming more and more taboo despite it being a rich part of our cultural history. Not to mention both genders will benefit if we talk more …

When you say that medicine has contributed to overpopulation, strictly speaking, that's not correct. People contribute to overpopulation. You put the cart before the horse here, in a way. People reproduce, it is very very hard to get a population not to. Just look at parts of Africa, it would do them well not to reproduce but that is not realistic. Disease and starvation have been the main population inhibitors in natural history, and we can argue they are still today. Our immune systems are ess…

anarchy as a philosophy I accept and realize all the "problems" that come with it as something that is good. Granted anarchy can not exist with the technology we have today, someone would exploit it.

My level of anarchy is misunderstood. I do not support a large government deciding things for a nation. Fuck that. I support a small communal hierarchy based on ability and merit. Think small Native American culture. How is medical progress doing something right? It contributes to overpopulation, allows those that are unfit to live. It supports the problem of overpopulation and reduces the pressure on our immune system. You may see cars as an advantage but in time genes that do not waste resourc…

I don't disagree with anything you said but let me clarify. I am an anarchist as heart. I know that I will never see it, I fundamentally do not support any law but admit given the current conditions the fact that we have laws is not going to change. unadulterated animal instinct You do realize that this ability in itself is programmed into our genes? It is proposed that our environments varied so greatly that our genes set us up with a great arsenal of things to work with. This includes innovati…

I know many may not like my theory but to whoever has read various evolution works will know what I am talking about. The two most important to note here are On The Origin of Specied and The Selfish Gene. I propose absolutely no laws regarding sex, marriage, divorce etc. I don't actually believe in the legal principals of marriage. This is fucking with the natural state of evolution. Any time we mess with the natural course of events, look how it has turned out. The human race is a ticking bomb …

I don't care about motives. It was better than him driving home. It is his own fault, we should all be responsible for our actions.

How would you fix it AnnArchist? Would you abolish it? Lesson the amount? Set it to a fixed percentage depending on the case? What are your thoughts on how to fix it? (Yes it needs to be fixed.)

Hmm true, it does create bad stereotypes. But still relevant because the terminology is used, while it is not a direct relation to wolves.

I think this makes a lot of sense. If the father would have an issue with the abortion then he should have the women sign the declaration before hand. I think there needs to be that little bit to keep a fathers right in not having one; the women would be able to have one unless the deceleration was signed. Any strong feminists have opinions about this - to bring some upheaval to the topic?

That is interesting. Do you have a link to some type of form so I can look at it? (a quick google of it didn't come up with anything, I also didn't look to hard.) I am still not sure exactly what it's implications are. I would love to hear your opinion and your thoughts behind the declaration, I have never heard of this. Edit: I made a mistake in typing it and suggestions on google went to deceleration. (didn't check the correction) Is this it? It was the first link but looks just like it would …

This is related. The term alpha vs beta male is used a lot. While the origins in wolf packs might be wrong, it can still be used to describe personality types. Good to be educated in the roots though.

I would like to a see a well represented study of male vs female sex offenders (includes more than rapists). I would be surprised to if women make up the majority but I would still like some scholarly and reputable proof that men do. Edit: Really bad structure implied something unintended.

It is not little known but people like to joke about it and act like it is something to be embarrassed about. It is less known and than menopause but isn't that the trend with female issues anyway?

No. Bitterness is something to be avoided. It is not unwarranted in this case though, but still undesired. It only muddies the situation and detracts from a better understanding. Again, he is right to be bitter though. I presume he is in his second marriage and was wrecked by his first.

I have seen this "half of marriages end in divorce" piece a few times. I have also seen an argument that it isn't quite accurate. Can someone explain why it isn't accurate? (To give context the study that is usually used is like "for every hundred marriages this year there will be 50 divorces.") I never saw the fallacy so if any of you know what their point is can you explain it to me, I keep missing it.

I don't think this is the attitude that MR should be taking.... It will turn off a lot of people to the cause. While he may have some points he does like to generalize and his anger is unneeded. Those that can not put there thoughts on ice...... Anger never brings clarity to a debate, but sometimes bring the debate into the light.

This guy is a bit bitter. He had a lot of good points but he did remind me of the feminists in intensity. I guess by being suppressed like MR needs to be like this. MR just needs to be careful not to become the thing they hate.

Rape is in the action of the accused, not in the perceived of the accuser. They make people think rape is always in an alley. Feminists are pushing that it is rape even when the "guy" was never told no, even if all of the rest of situation pointed to yes. A friend of mine was "raped" by her friend. They were alone in the house, she went along with the situation even though she didn't really want to. I also know this guy would have never had sex with her had he been told no. But feminist agenda w…

Most men prefer women who are curvy Could not agree more. In a photoclass I was in, we would have talks in the dark room where we were working. (Those of you who have taken an advanced or college level photo class probably know what I am talking about) Everyone guy in there agreed, to the females' surprise that men would rather have a girl be slightly overweight than underweight. Granted, there is a limit to how overweight but trust me, it is not the turn off to be 10lbs overweight that females …

Right, I don't have any issue with women or men or whatever earning 2% more or some marginal amount. It will never be truly equal. I am just worried that current programs are pushing that gap farther.

What the fuck is wrong with people? What ever happened to doing nice things for each other? I know when my father was working and my mother was a stay at home there was some mutual back scratching. Father is having a bad week, my mother would do something nice for him like prepare a good dinner or buy his favorite beer. Or when my mother was having a bad week my father would clean the house or rub her feet so she could de-stress. I mean damn. Everything is "I'm not going to clean the house becau…

"The casual reader would be surprised to learn then that median hourly earnings of women and of men (excluding overtime) are very close, with women's median pay actually being slightly higher than men's (by 3.4 per cent)." Didn't know that.

women are feeling greater pressures at work and home Think about this for a second. number of women drinking almost = to number of men. Maybe being the one responsible for income is more stressful, unlike when the feminists want people to think. What ever happened to people taking responsibility for their problems; must we always blame someone else like we are all little children pointing fingers?

From my experience in being a man, when guys say a girl is hot they are only thinking about her in a sexual way. Cute is someone who is attractive and you would have a relationship with. Granted there are always exceptions. Beautiful is more liken to cute than hot, and I don't hear guys use the word often when describing a women. (describing to other guys)
/r/MensRights01/08/09 12:32 AM

I had to make the distinction to a girl once that being called hot isn't really a good thing. Being called cute is. To a guy they have very different meanings. -kinda related.

And while some of that difference can be explained by factors such as women working fewer hours than men, most is likely to be due to discrimination, says Dr Ian Watson of Macquarie University. Yes, because there is evidence of discrimination. [/sarcasm] Apparently working fewer hours has little effect on how much people get paid compared to the gender. The factors once thought crucial in explaining the gender wage gap at management level are hardly relevant today. How so? The article finds a "w…
