Co-opted means when someone adopts or takes ideas for their own use. My point was that, much like feminism, you often get a more radical, shitty, louder group of people that latch on to a reasonable cause and they're the ones that make a bad name for it. They don't represent the majority of the people who believe in that cause. Women are welcome and important in the MRM, just as much as the men. It's really nice to hear someone say this. I think men's rights has a really bad rep despite addressing good causes, and the "us vs. them" mentality doesn't help anyone. Everyone, regardless of your gender, should be advocates for men's and women's rights. They're not mutually exclusive. It's definitely relevant information when looking at the big picture, but what happens is prison is definitely a different beast from what happens in society at large.
