Meh. I think it's cultural. Pretty much everybody around here holds doors open or helps you out if you're struggling at something. Whatever gender you are. It's not chivalry, it's basic education, respect and behaviour in a society. I would be offended if someone wouldn't hold me a door open, wouldn't at least offer me to go first (enter the bus/train, ticket machine, cashier, whatever) or wouldn't let me get past them in a line if I have only one item and they have a whole cart full. I think people, the strongest first (probably men), should have worked together to prevent that crazy to attack other people (in this example, he went after women). That's what I expect a society to do, but I understand why it's often not happening. This isn't a ''males should protect females''-problem, this is simply a ''people should help out when a crazy goes after people who can't defend themselves''-story.

Nah, it's a good pick up. Ignorant people (willingly ignorant or people not aware of the issue) could be thinking yeah, but not average men I guess unconsciously when you just use men.
