I’ve known several men who are concerned about the violence sex trafficking etc. but I think the ones who align with that movement tend to have self centered goals. Most of the men I’ve known who cared about women in that context it was religiously motivated.

I’m taller than 98% of American men. I don’t know that I care too much. I’m fine with being single 💃

I want to add to this if he seems perfect he’s lying. Sure. High value men probably exist. But there’s a difference between that and being perfect. The only “perfect” people I’ve known have been manipulative, belittling, and unempathetic. If a man can’t admit or see his faults than he’s either delusional or deceptive.

I’m here because someone I knew was complaining about your “shallow dehumanizing” standards. I’d briefly glanced here a year or so ago, the first time they brought it up, but since it kept coming up it seemed like something that might have been worth looking into. If only to make them stop complaining. So I read the handbook and wrote a very long series of messages with my opinions. I agree with some things and am not sure about others. And there was a handful of things that bothered me. I spent…

I read the article, and that sentence was pretty ridiculous. I can understand being his surprise, and even being hurt in a situation like that. It’s hard when someone we love doesn’t trust us completely or shows any sign of wanting to keep their options open. I think it definitely shows a pathetic ignorance and lack of empathy to the types of issues many women face though when financially abused. But I think in a moment like that I could have a hard time seeing outside of myself too. But I would…

Agreed. Especially that there are different ways of communicating love.

I wouldn’t be in any kind of official relationship with someone who hadn’t in some way communicated that they loved me. Or if I didn’t love them. And I would do everything I could to not love someone until they had in some way expressed they loved me. I’ve pined after guys who didn’t care about me and I refuse to do that again.

Yeah that’s fair. There have been times when I wasn’t mentally able to deal with it either or to weed through men in any meaningful way. But I do think that one of the things that has helped me be satisfied in my life has been developing a support group, and I think it’s beneficial to have good men and good women who support me. It doesn’t have to be for everyone. But I’ve benefited from it.

Sorry I think you might have misunderstood them. I don’t mean why as in “what caused them to have this low value trait” but why as in “which low value traits they have.” I was meaning to say there are some traits I would allow for a friend but not for a spouse. And I was trying to see what other people thought about that b

I’ve had male friendships that have been really meaningful. In different ways than my women friends, but I am deeply thankful to them. Two of my best friends are a married man and his wife. They have been like family to me and I would not be where I am without them. Some men absolutely suck and are unable to be friends without sex. But there are some men who make high value friends.

I think it depends why they are low value. There are some things that would make someone a poor husband that are fine for a friend. I can be friends with people I’m not attracted to, are too old or too young for me, or maybe even people who have different goals or values. But if someone is morally deplorable that is definitely going to effect how I interact with them.

My mon does this. She just wants her kids to be happy. But it can lead to drama. She wanted me to introduce my friend to my brother but said it was up to me. I didn’t introduce them so she invited my friend to have lunch with them behind my back and I felt like she wasn’t respecting my boundaries. I love my friend and I love my brother but i don’t think it’s really fair to anyone to play match maker

I would add that being smart with how you spend your money makes a huge difference in your happiness vs anxiety levels too. Investing in things that you value, even if other people don’t can be so satisfying.

There was a time in my life when razors were mildly triggering (I used to self harm regularly). But I would shave anyway because I thought I had to until I read an article about women protesting men’s expectations for their body hair. So I didn’t shave. Interestingly it was my mom and sisters who would call me out on it and be disgusted by me. I would wear pants or leggings or long skirts, or sometimes I would wax my legs. Waxing my armpits wasn't something I was able to figure out how to do mys…

I think for me, I wouldn't necessarily be apposed to a stay at home dad, but I would have to be able to trust that person to care for my kids and to care for my home. So he would have to be hard working and nurturing, my standards for that would be a lot higher than for someone who wanted to work assuming of course that I was in a position financially to pay the bills

The first time I moved out on my own I was looking at rentals and one of the landlords made a point to let me know that he had a key to the home and it was within his rights to come in at any time. I did not rent from him.

I think that’s going to depend on if you are willing to interact or be friends with a guy who may never ask you out. And also if you’d be willing to do that with this guy specifically. Personally I’m not in a rush to date before I know someone we’ll enough to properly date them. So i would probably be more patient than most.

I think that’s the part that’s so unfathomable to me. I can’t even understand this attitude that some men seem to have that women owe them dates. As if they’ve earned it somehow or someone is obligated to fill their needs. I think it’s sad how men don’t have emotional support systems to help them deal with their trauma. I think it’s sad that they systematically don’t really have as many ways to meet their relational needs outside of a relationship. But. Honestly that isn’t my fault. If a relatio…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/09/21 02:24 PM

I mean, personally I think that’s abuse too and society would be better off if people learned more constructive ways to communicate. And the fact that you would use those words to respond to women being encouraged to stay in abusive situations is… beyond concerning. I completely agree that women should vet someone before getting into a relationship to make sure they have basic human decency and don’t treat them like shit. And if you want to say he’s a victim to I’d be open to the possibility. Bu…

LDR are hard, but not impossible. Personally I would hesitate to commit to something like that in such a young relationship. I suppose it’s up to you to decide if you want to keep in contact id say go for it. You aren’t currently committed. So I’d leave it that way.

I just wanted to say, as a Christian, that Jesus said it was permissible to have a divorce when there is sexual unfaithfulness. He also said that looking at people wanting to lust after them (i.e. pornography) is committing adultery.

That’s interesting. I haven’t seen that show in awhile and I don’t think Derek was perfect by any means. There was definitely a lot of drama, but I always felt bad for him. He seemed to try really hard and to try to become the kind of person she would care about. I always thought he cared more and was a better partner than she was.

It’s so unsafe to go to someone’s house on a first date. I’m surprised there’s men that suggest that. Are they clueless or do they just not care? I love homemade pizza. I’d say that could be a high effort date. But I’d never just go to a strangers house like that unless I trusted them to respect me.

I think part of the problem is that forgiving something traumatic takes time. And also looks dramatically different in different contexts.

Right? Could she have stopped him if she’d tried or would she have been dead too? I might rather be dead than have my face in an article like that.

I’m a bit insecure because I’m tall. I looked it up and I’m taller than over half the men in America. It didn’t matter as much when I lived on the east coast because I was in a city and I wanted people to be intimidated by me so they’d leave me alone. But I moved further west and now I kinda hate it.

Different areas have different housing markets. I’m currently living in a three bedroom house. I don’t need three bedrooms but I like the kitchen and it’s nice to have a room ready in case I ever want someone to come over.
