You're essentially making a philosophical argument for hypergamy and it's pervasiveness because you make very general claims that can be tested with some rigor but assume they're fact because of intuition. Men may be massively less superficial than women in choosing who to sleep with but they are equally or more superficial than women in choosing a serious partner. There are also more influences at work than just the consequences of reproduction that explain why women are often more initially discerning of a potential sexual partner. One can be born to a rich family and refuse to consider marrying someone who is not also from a rich family.
