It's not because you grew up together that you two are the same. Maybe you two Kept the friendship just because you knew each other, but you have to understand that there's no more connections between you two. It's better if you let go of this friendship.

I'm really sorry for your losses. My grandparents were married for 60 years. My grandpa had Alzheimers and he only remembered my grandma and me, cause we were the only people that took care of him. My grandpa used to look at her and call her gorgeous even when he almost didn't spoke anymore. It was beautiful.

I didn't change my name when I got married cause I would have all the problems getting new documents and all my research published would be lost, cause all the new ones would be with a new name.
