If you do suffer from social anxiety, it's best to see a therapist about that. Therapy has been shown to be effective in treating social anxiety, you'll have a much greater chance of success with treatment.

And on what is your idea of "the nasty habits" of therapists based? It certainly does not reflect my experience with therapy. Well, if someone suffers from social anxiety, the foremost advice I would give to them is to look for a therapist. The odds of improving one's situation are much better with therapy than without. Social anxiety is a serious disorder that is best taken care of professionally. Also breathing exercizes/meditation can reduce the anxiety. Practicing social skills can also be of help.

What exactly are you scared of? Are you afraid of being rejected, of being judged negatively? Do you think other people will think you're embarassing? Do you often spend hours scrutinizing your own actions, thinking about whether you said or did something embarassing in front of other people?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
