1	Show your intentions right away or befriend girls? Its like comparing farming vs hunting (or sniping). Growing your social circle takes time, but then you will always have girls and can pick the best ones. Work on having a bunch of female friends and then when you have a nice base of girls, you can start using more of the other method as it will become difficult to be friends with so many girls at once.
