STD tests don't include testing for herpes (since it's so common), so it's possible you have had it this whole time. It has to do with the detection method outside of outbreaks. It's a costly and more involved test (for the lab). Herpes is basically undetectable (and nearly impossible to spread) while dormant without some weird antibody tests.

The most important thing to consider is how you're going to record and monitor. UHF bugs are tiny, easy to use, etc... but you have to stay close to it. Generally touring and rough water trips are done with a traditional sit inside, but what really matters is balance and tracking (ability to go in a straight line).
