Child support is the foundation of the men's rights movement?

The word 'wrong' works fine, doesn't it? I feel like I'm in a kindergarten, people keep using that stupid phrase

I think it was a legitimate sexual strategy during cavemen times and before modern society Hardly. From a purely practical standpoint an infant born to a woman with no mate is not looking at a good survival scenario. Rape is not a sexual strategy, it's an assault.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, I am listening. I do think you're being honest here and that deserves respect. The bitterness and anger, for most, isn't permanent. It doesn't stay there, at a fundamental level, because we think women suck, now. It's reactionary. It comes from feeling lied to. That our mothers and our friends who always said, "Just treat her well and the right girl will come along." were wrong. That it takes more than that, and we could have done something about it had we onl…

It's not a matter of opinion, this is actively hateful stuff here. That's the problem with being hateful, eventually you'll be found out and then you'll have to face how warped your 'opinion' really is.

That's not women, that's people. It is a very rare thing to meet anyone, man or woman, who's interested in a stranger for who they are. There's no way to just see that in a person, there's some friend-making and interplay that needs to happen first. I mean why else bring up the online business or motorcycle? That's part of the game; would you not be more interested in a woman if she talked about her motorcycle or her waverunner or her gorgeous cabin up north? A woman will like you for you, but y…

Same. I was actually enjoying myself over there, too. I happen to enjoy seeing mouthy manchildren get the figurative aluminum bat treatment.

Haha, how is that a strawman? Just noting the fact of the subreddit is a strawman argument? And that response didn't look particularly hypothetical to me.

Cleopatra gets the shit for fucking up Marc Antony's head and causing him to 'go native' in Egypt and lose (iirc) the battle of Actium. Other than that she was no more warlike than any other world leader of the time.

I love how you guys are focusing on gender as much as Moore was. There's a lot more that goes into violence and war than genitals or even individual tendencies. If there were a cause for Sarah Palin bombing the world, it would more likely be ideology and general idiocy.

I was mad until I realized I was in r/mensrights. I won't argue the point that women have the same tendencies to anger that men do, because that's a human thing and not some gender thing that any sentient human just gets exempted from. Anger and bad decisions and thirst for violence, those are vices we all share. You couldn't actually say that women don't invent anything, though. The link is lazy but it's not a hard statement to refute. Watch those monsters you fight before you become one.

Generally speaking, this is because the mothers traditionally spend more time with the kids. The court asks for a record of time percentage spent with the kids, and factors that into the custody decision.

I think this is the best response. It addresses the important issue (getting everyone out safely) without placing greater or lesser value on anyone's life because of which bathroom they use. It's a delicate matter to start arguments of this sort, where a controversial value judgment is dragged into a decision where it's really not the main issue. The OP says young men (which he happens to be) should escape first in a fire, he can't tar a woman for saying the same thing then, she's doing exactly …

I couldn't agree more with this. It is absolutely impossible to claim any superiority by dint of any trait present at birth or conferred by culture. Handing preeminence to a birth trait is a copout: it sends essentially shitty people into the world with no perceived reason to change or become better. If you're kind because you're female, why attempt to be kind? Women are more nurturing? More qualified in 'family life'? Tell that to the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System, which found th…

“My job was to run the household and the children’s lives,” she said. “His job is to provide us with a nice lifestyle.” 'Running the household and the childrens' lives' doesn't mean now what it meant in the past. Taking care of a house is nowhere near the work it used to be, and a woman lazy and self-involved enough to make a statement like that probably doesn't have any more to do with her kids than she has to. You'd think she was born into some sort of royalty, a sacred cow with a Pradi bag. I…

What percentage of women would you estimate would agree with your basic approach to child support? To be honest, I think more than one might expect. Nowadays there is more emphasis on the independence of women, and while not all women are enthusiastic about that, I think on some level many of us are aware of the inequalities in the system. Where we stand to benefit we may be reluctant to offer agreement, but it's still not quite fair and I think many of us are aware of that. Right now, child sup…

Well, if I could, I would first reexamine the law that forces a man to pay child support if a woman becomes pregnant out of wedlock. I should mention also that I am a single mother. It strikes me as unfair that a woman is now able to 'trap' a man into supporting her by becoming pregnant. If a woman gets pregnant, she has a variety of choices, and with power should come responsibility. If she can't personally support a child, she should take the same risk in having premarital sex as a man does. I…

I just have a quick thing to say here, it probably won't be welcome but I'm prepared for that. I joined MensRights because I believe in equal treatment for men (I was raised by a man), and I feel in many areas of life (especially child support and custody issues) men are treated with less than equal rights. I also have a son, and I want him to be treated well and to grow proud of his gender and not penalized for it. At the same time, I'm a woman, and this reddit is becoming a lot less 'pro-men' …

Call the Waahmbulance. This is America, almost everybody gets belittled or ignored at some point. Either you get a sense of humor and learn to laugh at yourself, or you get professional help, or both.

I don't know why a label is necessary, it's a bit of a copout to the language to say that the only recourse to discussing victimized men is to use the word 'whiner'. That seems to say more about the author than the society, to me. What for instance do you call a woman who 'points out problems'?
