We were hanging out with a group of friends at a cookout and it got brought up that I might get a vasectomy. I mentioned that I had changed my mind because I thought I might want another kid someday. Well that turned into an argument and my first thought was that I don’t want to get one because I don’t want to keep the joy of having a child away from someone I might end up with in the future.

Sounds like you’re still healing man. I’m sorry. Don’t give up though. There is someone out there. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. It’s absolutely terrifying. Shit, I’m terrified in this current relationship. What if I get abandoned again, what if what I give don’t reciprocated. I’d rather try than hide though. Best of luck brother.

I had the same concerns initially. I can’t deny that I got really lucky with the situation. My off days with the kids are the same as hers so we get to spend a lot of time together.

Don’t you idealize every woman you get into a relationship with?

I hope it lasts too, but I’m also in tune with reality as much as I can be. I spent a solid 3 months off work to work through the divorce and get my shit together. I realized during that time that I hadn’t been happy for a very long time and it has made moving on easier. Not saying I’m perfect, but I’m in a very good place on my own. Most people get a good sense of who the other person is after a few months and we have definitely spent a lot of time together. Time will always tell though. Thanks…

I couldn’t agree more! We both come from difficult marriages and we have both learned how to love and what we need to feel loved and are applying it. We’ve been very open with each other about needs, insecurities, values, etc. It’s incredible coming into a relationship knowing what you want.

True, but we learned from it and know what to look out for next time and what mistakes to avoid. I don’t see the point in hating on women. I’m having fun and I’m happy, even if it just for right now. If it ended tomorrow, would it suck? Absolutely. If it lasts and I continue to be happy, then I think that’s worth the risk.

I’m sure some do and some don’t. Time will tell. I’m enjoying it while it lasts. If I can handle a divorce, I can handle this. Trust me, I’m aware of the infatuation phase and all that comes with it. I’ve done my best to think about everything logically and still be in tune with my feelings. I’m not big on dating around. It doesn’t scare me to find a woman and see where it goes.

Absolutely. I’ve made sure to be very open and upfront with my struggles, insecurities, and even my marriage. She’s been very understanding and like a rock my biggest mistake in my marriage was not being honest and open about my feelings.

Completely understand. Sure there’s some infatuation. Maybe I’m in the minority of guys that finds someone and knows quickly. Maybe I’ll get my heart broke. I’m not going to deny my feelings though, or shy away from something that could be better than I dreamt of.

Not anytime soon lol. Taking it as slow as possible for the kids. Still a lot to navigate.

I understand what you’re saying. All I can say is, when you know, you know. I’m not saying anyone is wrong or should change their thoughts. There are worthy women out there though. I got lucky and I’m aware of that. I wish the best for you man.

I have two and so does she. All around the same age. It was about 8 months. I know that’s pretty quick, but I had no intention of actually falling for her. I thought I’d go out on a date with a beautiful girl to see if I still had it lol. Then it just felt right. Also, I realized that my ex and I had fallen out of love a long time ago.

You’re welcome brother. How are you doing now?

I’ve heard of it happening but I couldn’t do it. I’ve moved on and I’m finally happy. Found a beautiful woman that lets me be me. Why go back to that mess? My ex really showed her true colors. She’s a hypocrite, self entitled, and narcissistic. Never again would I try to make it work with her.

It’s going really well for me. There’s definitely hope brother. I met a woman that treats me the way I always wanted, is obsessed with me in the best way, intimacy is through the rough, and I can be open with her about my divorce. And she’s absolutely beautiful. Just don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Take your time, but don’t be afraid if something feels right.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
