Your hair can really help with age, if you go /r/malehairadvice and ask there, they can help you out. Also, this won't help with looks, but if you slow down the way you talk and move, and if you act more smoothly, it helps carry the idea that you're a bit more mature. A lot of younger people talk fast and move really fast, so avoid that?

Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words. And don't pay too much attention to negative energy. If I took the words of strangers seriously I would be in a pretty poor state. I can brush things off pretty easily and just live my life.

its an old picture and I was a high schooler at that point, and compared to the tank top wearing masses, it was pretty good, but it's not indicative of me, oh well, I don't care too much about it. I try not to take things too seriously so yea. But i do agree with you on your points mate

There are definite exceptions, I have a very nice pair of German leather high-tops that are very nice and I wear them, but I should specify that I meant Air Jordans, or Supras or Adidas high-tops that don't work wonders for me. Those are the cases I see a lot when walking down the street so I focused on those.

I appreciate the feedback, it all really is dependent on location. Here in Vancouver, there are two major trends that I've noticed, which is hipster or really douchey so my outfit gives balance and works well for me in the middle ground. I don't rely on my outfit to do the work for me, I just don't like either of the trends around here, so I have my own way of doing things. It works for me, but it very well couldn't hold up everywhere. There are definite results here though

To each their own, but at least in Vancouver, it's a decent style, and I have a nice pair of Ray Bans, but I like them for the colour and I get compliments on them for not being boring.

I agree, that is definitely overkill, and that goes back to the "take my lunch money"esque vibe that he gives off when bragging about being better than everybody around him and then following up with dressing for a style not meant for his demographic.

Thanks, and I do see where you're coming from. For the picture I just googled "Hipster shorts" and found that picture... I do like that album, but it's not for everybody, and it just isn't my personal style. I'm no guru, and some of those shorts are definitely solid, but until I try on a pair in real life and really like them, I probably won't be sold on em.

Great point and I do agree with you mostly, except on the peers wondering why I dress with such pretense. I don't particularly like using high end brands to insinuate social status, but the quality is there, and there is more thought put into the clothes made by good companies. I don't like paying for a logo, it's the same reason some cars are so expensive. The badge doesn't make the car, or the clothes. I simply want to not follow trends, but have a more timeless look for my demographic and I r…

Ask, and you shall receive, before the end of the day check back and I will elaborate more, I'm at work currently and when I'm back I will have plenty of examples and I hope I can help!

All very good points, I'm a college student so I definitely have that bias for age. I also am hoping that with age people develop their own sense of style and fashion and that the younger crowd usually needs more help. It all is preference, and I'm just sharing my observations, it is by no means the be all guide of fashion. I accept I don't know everything, and every scenario is unique, but I just try to convey a basic understanding so people know where to start

That's a good rule of thumb, however, it's a rule that can be applied once you have the foundation of fashion, and sometimes in social scenarios people need that extra advice to help them out. I'm just trying to help build a wardrobe from the ground up for those who might need a bit of help so they can get to that level.

I just submitted a "Basic Guide to the world of men's fashion" thread on Seddit, maybe it could help you out? I touch on the basics a decent amount but it's not too overwhelming

Well that also happens to be true, so I guess I have a few things going for me. It really is a pretty solid situation

That's fair, that's the assumption i was making but for some reason I needed to hear it here.

Is there any advice for starting relationships with people that I work with? Or is it a general rule of don't crap where you eat deal. I just got a part time job at a restaurant and am one of the few males who isn't in the dishpit or kitchen and am just curious if I'm breaking any egregious rules.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
