It's much easier to say "I AM X", especially since I'm much more liberal with a few libertarian beliefs and have more conservative values, when I just meet someone than have an 8 hour long discussion about what I believe and why. However, after taking a linguistics course, I realized that one issue with this is the availability heuristic: we make judgements off of the sources available to us.
