Don't forget that the competition is getting harder and harder. My friend is a bright guy but I don't think he would have made it to partner today. He made it 10 years ago and he said he was lucky for several reasons. I only buy things I need and when I buy it, I make sure to buy best quality that lasts a lifetime. Also, good brands usually sell replacement parts (e.g. headstrap and lenses for welding helmet). Eventually I would have all the stuff I need and then I don't need to buy any more stuff.
