Despite what I make, the financial situation is still less than ideal. I'm working on that part as I pointed out below, but for now its all DIY. Will definitely take another look at kino and up the game there. I've read what I need to do in all of the sidebar materials, but have failed to apply it properly. I just need to put in the effort.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Absolutely, I'll shoot you a PM.

After reading all the comments here, I am definitely going to up the dread and start focusing on my "pick-up" skills. As far as my career, I learned a long time ago that if you get complacent and stagnant in IT you quickly become obsolete. I'm always learning and re-upping certs, etc.. to stay relevant, and I do have an upward plan for when I'm ready to move again. I'm confident that if this place dried up tomorrow, I could land a job with at least the same or better pay fairly quickly. This is …

I'm sorry to hear that about your wife man, I wish you the best in the fight. And thanks for the perspective on things, sometimes it's all that's needed to get motivated again and keep on going.

Of course, you are right. This is the kind of feedback I needed to hear, harsh as it is. Thanks.

This is correct. I'm using the snowball method of paying off the debt, but I've still got another two years until I'm debt free if everything goes as planned. In the mean time, everything is DIY and scrimp and cut expenses as much as possible.

Both good points. I do have a fear of taking the dread too high, since she already experiences anxiety and is going through therapy for that as I did years ago. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to cause her more until she works that out.

I have read all of the sidebar material and then some, and now that I think about it, this is likely the trigger of my "crisis". Rollo's article really hit the nail on the head for me, I'm not sure how I missed that one, so thanks for pointing that out. I've been doing much the same as you, Warrior Dash, Spartan Race, etc.. but with my buddies, not my wife. Looks like I need to find a way to fix that too. Thanks for the inspirational words.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
