That’s intentional by the people who coined the term “manosphere”. So they can (rightfully) call out the Tate types and then (wrongfully) attack spaces that aren’t doing that. As another comment pointed out, this subreddit would be considered part of the manosphere—precisely as a way to attack it.

Except no, because that’s not how you defined it: Men fighting for wars is patriarchal since it's patriarchy that says men are protectors and fighters not feminism. There’s other reasons to say that men’s problems don’t matter besides “men are protectors and fighters”.

I mean, that just denying my lived experience with extra steps tho. That’s not the “patriarchy”. That’s exactly who is being ignored when you try to blame men’s problems on the “patriarchy”. At some point it’s just a refusal to take accountability. Not a problem for a stranger on the Internet, but this mindset affects plenty of people with power and it’s reflected in the way we refuse to help men.

Because feminists are the ones refusing to acknowledge men’s problems and attacking men for trying to talk about them, to put it simply. I think there’s a lot of talking past each other here but I think the problem with your definition of patriarchy is it doesn’t really seem consistent with how it’s actually used. Like, here’s Kamala Harris implying that society would never restrict men’s bodily autonomy: https://x.com/KamalaHarris/status/1843035822011896272 That’s not “men should die to defend …

What about claiming that women suffer more than men during war despite the fact that they aren’t dying? Is that “patriarchy”? Or is that “feminism”? There’s more than one justification for ignoring men’s problems.

What does this mean, in practice? What’s the definition of “feminism” and “patriarchy” that makes this a meaningful thing to say?

That’s fair, I didn’t exactly expand on that. Administrators in college were often women and overwhelmingly left wing. Sexual assault was almost exclusively taught through a “man rapes woman” lens. And in general, the college was much more focused on uplifting women over men, there was and still is no men’s center to mirror the women’s center. This is what’s missed when we talk about “patriarchy”. And I’ve had some terrible experiences with therapists, and yet when we talk about “men’s mental he…

Okay but the problem is what the feminists are doing that’s wrong got me raped and made it impossible for me to get help, not the “patriarchy” or “toxic masculinity” or whatever paper-thin justification to blame men for everything.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/12/25 02:05 AM

That’s a nice thought but it’s still missing the fact that men don’t have most of the power on campus. It’s not just the effect, it’s the cause as well.

I got raped in college and nobody cared precisely because men do not have “more power everywhere”. You’re ignorant and you’re ignorant for a reason. Maybe investigate why before you start trying to tell men what their problems are.

labels r dum. Whether or not this subreddit qualifies as “feminist” is entirely semantic, and I think it’s a distraction from questions about how we should treat men and talk about their issues.

Yeah they’re mindlessly tearing down left wing people everywhere, which is useful in areas where those people are causing men issues. College campuses would be a great example. Of course, they’re only doing it because they want to tear down those institutions themselves, but it’s still something. More than the Democrats, at any rate.

Meh, I think you’re reading too much into it. It’s more of a call back to the fact that men, too, were once innocent children and loved by their parents—that they have full lives and lived experiences.

The left does not have zero power in this country. And the fact that they are incredibly anti-male is part of what led to Trump in the first place.

Thinking the democratic party is "left wing" is perfect evidence of that considering anyone else in the world they would be centre-right or centrist at most. Uh, no. Among everything else, "illegal immigrants welcome" is not really a common sentiment anywhere. It's kind of weird to say that the subreddit is US-centric, then make a baseline comparison of what "left" is based on what is usually just a few parties in Europe. If this sub was actually left wing, there would be a much louder pushback …

Literally all of the top comments are shitting on Trump. And of course there’s going to be hate directed at feminists and the people who enable them. “Left” is a political term to define the general politics here, it doesn’t mean people here aren’t going to call out democrats for being problematic.

Liberal would mean non-authoritarian, they can still be pro market even if they want it regulated. Left and right are more about where the country is. Wanting more liberal and equitable government while also wanting to advocate for men should be enough to be a “left wing male advocate”.

I was thinking more about guys who are in terrible situations that never come out because those things are correlated. More like the British plane meme on selection bias—you aren’t counting the gays who don’t come out.

Gay men who are out. There’s selection bias at play here. Being (openly) gay is affected by environmental factors. I’m not sure the correlation holds up.

As a male victim of SA, if you are a feminist you don’t actually care about male victims of SA. Feminists only care about silencing men lol.

Yeah there are a dozen articles that are two faced about this but I’m pretty sure this one was just the author not wanting to repeat themselves. “Dominating” sounds worse anyway, I’d think it would be a worse situation than simply “disproportionately represented”. I don’t think the author actually meant anything by it besides comparing employment between men and women.

But not this. Feminists have created their own mens advocacy groups, or have still engaged in mens advocacy. It's just that the advocacy groups which are not affiliated with feminism, or refuse to use the feminist lens on mens advocacy, (like the MRM), they despise it and defame it which causes many of them to shut down. Aka men’s advocacy groups. Might as well say that conservatives are being super pro black when they try to convince black people that democrats are the real racists. Refusing to…

Attacking sexist people for being sexist is not setting back men’s rights, it’s forwarding them. What exactly is the problem with men treating women’s issues the way women test men’s issues? Isn’t that the equality that you hope for?

Feminists almost ubiquitously don’t want to relate and other assumptions that are deterministic of intent are exactly the problem This isn’t an assumption, this is my actual lived experience. Thank you for demonstrating exactly why being pro feminist is incompatible with being pro man—because whenever feminism attacks men, you never take men’s side. I don’t think it’s helpful to men to try to get them to ignore the people who constantly tell them they don’t have problems. It’s nice to say that I should just try to talk about my issues so people can relate. I’ve tried that, guess what? Feminists almost ubiquitously don’t want to relate, because that would challenge their worldview that women have it so much worse for men—or that women and feminists are usually good. My experience with guy therapists is even worse to be honest, they seem to be more focused on making sure you act “right” than actually being supportive. I’m sorry man the only way is to keep looking. I guess I’d start by talking about your problems in the past. At least then you’ll know to move on quickly if they push back hard. Good therapists are hard to find largely because they are already booked. Just gotta keep linking until you find one.

Essays could be written about why the right goes after trans women but not trans men. But I think the left ignoring them is more about deliberately avoiding bringing attention to them, given the right seems content to ignore them.

Women are a billion times more dependent on men than men on women—they are called breadwinners for a reason. How many women are economically dependent on men as opposed to the other way around. Divorce is a terrible metric because alimony and child support means that the woman doesn’t stop being dependent on the man. Same with death/retirement/marriage—a man is more likely to remarry because a woman doesn’t stop being provided for just because the guy is gone. Ignoring this to pretend men are de…

Lmao if that’s the bar for men to complain about misandry than every feminist I’ve ever seen complain about misogyny is a hypocrite. I’m sure those same people would not hesitate to say misogyny is real in modern society despite meeting literally none of those bars. Good example of feminists using others pain to further their own hate. “How dare you complain about your problems when women on the other side of the planet have problems.” Definitely saying the same thing to women who complain about…

The court had declared Section 497 of the IPC—which gives the husband the exclusive right to prosecute his wife’s lover, even as the wife was denied the right to prosecute the woman with whom her husband has committed adultery—as unconstitutional. The article does not make it sound like that.

I fully believe that the patriarchy is real and a problem. Lmao why? Do you truly feel you’ve lived a life where women had no influence on you? I am a huge fan of these amazing women in my life and part of me loves to see them embrace their full womanhood without referencing men. Do they return the favor? The concept of history months is bringing to attention groups that were ignored throughout history. I’d rather focus on things men need than simply blindly chasing whatever women have. I’ve heard more about prostate cancer awareness during November than September, so I still vote November. Makes sense to consolidate anyway. “November is for the boys”.

Unless you were raped, you consented to having sex and I hope that as a man, you have enough sense in you to understand you have to take responsibility as well. Why are women forced to make the decision about their bodies. If you are that strong in your conviction, don’t have sex. And child support is for the fucking child, you know, the man’s offspring as well. LMAO do these people try to be as hypocritical as possible?

But lately, much of the conversation around men’s loneliness has been spearheaded by women. Last February, in an op-ed for The New York Times, Magdalene J. Taylor explored loneliness vis-à-vis somewhat historic rates of sexlessness in men under 30. The article encouraged men to screw their way out of isolation (a prospect I imagine is exhausting for the many women pursued as a result). Then in July, a Washington Post op-ed by Christine Emba bravely charted generations of lost men and offered a m…

Is it undoable, is it possible to get women that claim feminism to adhere to true intersectionality? The experience of the vast majority of people in this subreddit is “apparently not”. You wouldn’t be the first to try. Hopefully you’ll be more successful though. I think that the appropriate response for feminism is to drop the bullshit and actually engage with guys. The Prim Reaper is not a bad place to start about how men's mental health has been completely sabotaged by what comes across as pretty naked politics. The Tin Man Blog is an advocate that I would say is up your alley, But really, you just need to look closer at feminist literature and pay attention to what they are saying. Like the "patriarchy" is mostly just used as a way to blame men for everything. And look up "female privilege" and look at how feminists just unironically tell women not to wo…

Intersectionality is bigger than feminists, and largely is about how identity and oppression overlap — basically saying that intolerance multiples rather than just add. So yes, intersectionality predicts black women will have worse misogyny than white women. It also predicts that black men will face worse misandry than white men. One look at, say, the criminal justice system will show that that is true. I wouldn’t discard ideas just because feminists misuse them to attack men. Indeed, my biggest…
