The end result would be the same though. She enjoyed the conversation - he uses power of suggestion to get number - they continue enjoyable conversation. Eventually it dies out so he asks her out, she still isn’t interested (because by the sounds of it she found him interesting enough but wasn’t attracted to him) and says no. Maybe winning the number would be a nice little confidence booster in itself but I think the real win for OP is that he actually did it and gave it a go.

Bio: either keep it short and sweet or have something funny. I’ve had success with both. Currently mine is a bit longer than usual but it’s been effective because it’s funny and unique. I tend to change it up between one theme (as it is currently - taking the piss out of make up marketing by “selling” myself as a unique brand, which appeals to women as they recognise the style and find it clever and funny). Hate to burst your bubble, but Tinder & Bumble’s algorithms put new people (to the area as well as new profiles) at the front. So inevitably when you go to a new place you’ll get more matches. I travel a fair amount for work (and personal travel) and every time I’m in a new place my matches rocket for the first 48 hours or so before settling down to their usual levels (average 2/day).

The girl who almost blocked me wasn't because I was being a creep, it was because I was pushing her buttons (in a political debate) and pushed it a little too far. She told me she almost deleted me because she felt offended but she just couldn't do it. But yeah I guess you're right. I don't think it's even the fear of rejection, it's the fear of being called a creep or something in real life. But thanks.

You kinda lost me at the beginning but I agree fundamentally it is about being more confident than her, because then she can trust you and put herself in your hands without being worried. But ultimately I think body language is a much bigger sign of confidence than attractiveness. I've known super gorgeous girls with no confidence, because they've had asshole boyfriends who destroyed their it, and I've met really not so great girls with loads of confidence, because they have nothing to lose. If …

I figured as much. Thanks for clarifying! I hadn't thought about snacks or anything, thankfully I always have a stash in my room anyway haha.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
